Great, they're spraying again for West Nile virus. They tell the nightly spraying schedule on the local news just like they're reading off winning Lotto numbers. Go ahead, poison the fish and the birds and the water because one or two people out 12 million+ people get it and die every summer.

That's how nasty ass epidemics start, though. There is no vaccine for West Nile virus. It also causes encephalitis, which is exceedingly painful and has no cure. You just have to let it run it's course. This happened to my duplex neighbor last year. (Not West Nile, but another viral encephalitis.) She was out of commission for three months and went through enormous pain. Not fun.

So, not only is there no vaccine or cure, but the disease is extremely painful. It's also spread by mosquitos, which spread it to each other, and the transmission can therefore be exponential and unpredictable.

    Spraying is good...

So is spaying. Especially when it comes to stopping the spread of Texan sex machines.

Yeah, but who could want to do such a horrible thing, eh?

Is that queue for "Spay a Texan Today" or is that just the one for the free million dollars?
