    Death Threat Ends Naked Promotion

VIENNA (Reuters) - An Austrian clothing chain said a death threat to a store manager had convinced it to end a promotion offering shoppers $385 in free clothing for entering its stores naked.

Kleider Bauer launched the three-week promotion Monday. Under the scheme, it said it would reward the first five strippers of the week at each of its 40 department stores as long as they streaked from the street to the checkout counter.

The retailer said that while most of its customers enjoyed the gag, there had been several irate complaints to police in addition to the death threat.

It said the scheme was not worth exposing its workers to personal attacks and murder threats.

What made them come up with the sum of $385?

By Markus on Saturday, March 4, 2000 - 07:10 am:

They didn't. They came up with the sum of 5500 schillings.
