No, I don't agree with his conclusions. But goddamn, this man is amazing. He risks his hide to support the US, Rumsfeld bites him in the back and says we don't need him anyway, people at ome are calling for his dismissal, and he still speaks up for what he holds in his conscience (as he's said) to be true. AND he's humble about it -- he's devoutly religious, but not once does he drag God into the mix and claim to be acting on His behalf. He's just doing what he thinks to be the right thing. He might be wrong, but holy crap, is he brave. Not to mention he's one hell of a speaker. Intelligent, eloquent, witty, refined....I think I'm in love. "I accept fully that those opposed to this course of action share my detestation of Saddam." I wish everyone else could understand that. What was that shit about Tom Daschle being called unpatriotic for daring to say he thought Bush didn't do a good enough job at diplomacy? I missed the rest of the story after I had to shut off the TV or else risk an aneurysm. |

It's the faggoty british d00ds who get all the chix. |
his eloquence is terribly admirable, but our standards have become so low. Daschel is a dick anyway because he voted for that critical resolution in October so whatever he says now, in my mind is irrelavent. Basically senior republican leaders we're pulling a trace. |
My temper bubbled not at Daschle's nerve for saying what he did, but at the response from the other guy. And now I'm going to move onto other things before I get mad again.... The left side of my jaw aches and I can't open my mouth very wide....I must have been grinding my teeth last night. |
He wrote that speech his own damn self, too. |
he has no nerve. he's a spineless pussy. |

Especially: ________________________ "Iraq is steeped in history. It is the site of the Garden of Eden, of the Great Flood and the birthplace of Abraham. Tread lightly there. "You will see things that no man could pay to see and you will have to go a long way to find a more decent, generous and upright people than the Iraqis. "You will be embarrassed by their hospitality even though they have nothing." ____________________ I may have to move to the UK. Their education system is evidently leagues (and kilometers) ahead of ours, and I want those children of mine to be taught to be this well-spoken. |

id go fight with that guy. well. almost. why do they always have to be so ...so....god damn noble and shit? i heard some US officer as quoted saying "its Hammer Time!". Its Hammer Time? vs. "Our business now is north." for what its worth i read US forces are not to fly their flags either. |

I have dual citizenship with the US/Italy, so maybe it wouldn't be so difficult to emigrate? (Italy being part of the EU and the borders being more flexible and all.) I'm serious. The BBC is my primary online news-source -- they're known to be much more objective and accurate than CNN or the other national networks/papers. I also like to follow the Northern Irish peace process saga, and you can't get that info stateside. I don't get cable, so regarding the national TV news, I'm a Peter Jennings girl from way back. |
|
I'm pessimistic about next year's election. I'm hoping and praying we'll have a re-run of the LBJ situation and not FDR. If this country chooses to re-elect GWB, then I may choose to re-locate. |

uive been trying to download Public Enemy's Fight the Power or "Can't Truss It" but gnucleus is all clogged and i keep getting booted from it every hour. me thinks peeps in the recording industry send spikes fdrom time to time to disrupt the exchange of free music. |
|
It's my primary news source too. I especially like how they name the section for organized athlectics, "sport." I also like noting the subtle differences in language and writing styles compared to our journalism. Their world news coverage is good which is what got me reading it in the first place. I have a stupid crush on Tom Brokaw. Don't ask me how it happened since it emerged after I saw Dana Carvey's impression of him. fuh-nee |
------------ Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. [ graphic of Ford surrounded by a pair of wolves ] "Tragedy today, as former President Gerald Ford was eaten by wolves. He was delicious." Now.. now, that's just superfluous, you know? Voice of Producer: It's a former President, Tom. What do you say - he's not delicious? ------------ |

__________________________________ Chirac entered the room only after cameras had been ushered out, avoiding being photographed with Blair. But diplomats said the French leader handed Blair a personal note of condolences on "this cruel ordeal". __________________________________ This is so lame. This is a cool kid who doesn't want to be seen with the dorky girl he likes. Not that Blair ("looking tired and drawn," poor thing) is a girl. Whatever. Shit, the older I get, the more surprised I get at how juvenile adults really are. Not that I'm exempt...I even still have trouble referring to myself as a woman and not a girl. |
