He's staying at the LA Standard. And I'd say he'd be shopping for everything! But mainly clothes knowing him. And also presents for his girlfriend.

If its the one downtown he's in luck for celeb sightings. the rooftop bar and hot tubs often have a line around the corner and the cover is usually 20 bucks. the one is West Hollywood, though nice, not as uber hip right now. hollywood blvd is pretty bunk. the clothes are crap. more incense, gray market electronics and cheap stripper wear than you can shake a stick at. if he wants name brand apparel and he has cash. head to Beverly Hills. if he's not concerned with label...head to melrose avenue between la brea and fairfax avenue. more cheapo chic club kid stores and vintage shops than you've probably seen in your lifetime another good spot thats somewhere in between melrose and beverly hills is on my side of town in Los Feliz. Vermont Ave between Hollywood and Franklin Ave. Lastly another groovy area near my hood in Silverlake...Sunset Blvd between Hyperion and Maltman Avenue. If tells a cab driver "melrose avenue between la brea and fairfax avenue" "Vermont Ave between Hollywood and Franklin Ave." "Silverlake...Sunset Blvd between Hyperion and Maltman Avenue." these instructions should be specific enough to get him where he wants to go. These areas mostly have clothes but all kinds of crap really. Its where most people who visit me like to go.

oh. kids? dvds? games? hmmmm. sounds like mall type stuff, but id really shy away from a mall...but if thats what he wants....the most LA of malls is the Beverly Center or Highland/Hollwood but they have the same kinds of stores you probably have in your malls. Next to my office, there is the El Capitan Theater, which Disney owns and they have a Disney store on the ground floor, seems to be popular with the tourists. ok. i'll summarize. *hip/eclectic* Melrose Avenue SilverLake (Sunset Blvd) Los Feliz (Vermont Ave) *mainstream/popular/more touristy* Beverly Center Mall Highland and Hollywood Mall (Highland and Hollywood is brand new, its very touristy Hollywood, so you know....now that im thinking about it more...this may be his best bet.)
