New Years' resolution: sort out the new bookmarks.

Visited Leigh Hudspeth's site today, there was some new stuff.
I found her through your guestbook. I like to see people put up sites and learning this stuff. Maybe some day...

Thanks for setting up links. Even though we have to learn mtml. I can't gush enough about the prompt and efficient service here! And the food is delicious!

    Now for dessert...

Well, now I'll bet you're glad you have the message preview screen.
I've been going to to this picture for over a year now. it's a live webcam of a streetcorner somewhere in colorado. i don't know why i find it so interesting.

By Amanda on Saturday, January 3, 1998 - 11:10 am:
speaking of webcams..i use to have one as my starting page..overlooking a mountain range..and every now and then i'd watch the sun set....and the snow fall in winter...or catch it when there was a storm..

    but i lost it..

it was far away..and it was a different view point than what i looked at all the time..

i liked it..but i lost it..and wouldn't have a clue as to where to find it again..

By Nelly on Saturday, January 3, 1998 - 04:37 pm:
They have one of the better time lapses of that corner in Boulder, too.

Saw something unusual on the cow cam today, but i'm suspicious...

I forgot html doesn't work in WAYD and tried to put a link there to this.

This seems to be the day for critters.

By R.C. on Saturday, January 3, 1998 - 05:26 pm:
*giggle* A Cow cam? (But I couldn't get the picture to load. Will have to try back later.) And that beetle was gorgeous. How do you FIND this stuff, Nelly?

By Nelly on Saturday, January 3, 1998 - 07:22 pm:
Usually use good ol' alta. Or one of them others.

Ah, the joys of keyword searching.

Seems like any English word (and a lot that are not) will get you some kind of results, which will include a band name, sometimes an albumn too.

Just did BLEACH, understand there's also a Nirvana album by that name (never listened to them for more than 5 minutes).

had to try LAUNDRY too. Yup. In addition to the band, picked up some tips on how to wash jeans.

O.K. so I gave up on TOWELS, so far. But I discovered a resource. Don Knotts Overdrive, Goldfish Don't Bounce, Rage Against the Coffee Machine and more that I won't mention on this family site.

What an exciting and productive afternoon!

aah, i disagree. jenni is the #3 most visited site on the web, she must have something that the other no-shame sites don't have.

half a million people see her site every single day.

i am not really into jenni too much, i never stop by her place (nor does she stop by mine, as far as i know), but she's got the point of view. she was talking about it on npr, saying that you could watch TV with all its threateningly beautiful and stylized people, or you could tune in to some girl's webcam and see some ordinary person doing ordinary things, just sitting around and staying home most weekends.

most people dwell on the "ooooh, she's naked! huh huh wacka wacka.." thing, but what do you expect.. people with internet access still think they know everything.

jenni's site is a window into someone's life. people take their clothes off sometimes. they have sex, or they don't. but most of the time they just sit around.

speaking only for myself, of course..

By Christop on Tuesday, May 19, 1998 - 05:16 am:
i find jenni rather dull. she was the first of a strange wave, and she went through a very exhibitionistic phase when the cam was still in her dorm room at college (and tens of thousands of captured images from that period will be around forever), but now she's practically an institution. look at the number of porn sites that hide "jennicam" and a million variations in their html as search engine fodder.

these women, on the other hand, know no shame.

By Pete on Tuesday, May 19, 1998 - 01:20 pm:
Well, I didn't really mean that I didn't care for Jenni....I only just heard about her this past week and she lives in my area for gods sake (how did that one slip by me?)

But to be masturbating on camera....well, either you like that sort of thing or you don't. Although I know that she claims to "forget" that the camera is there sometimes....is that true, Mark? Is there ever a time when you just plain forget that you're on camera? Maybe at work....I can see how you might forget. But at home? At least you seem to have the presence of mind to remember to shut the thing off at night....I'm sure you'd never let yourself be caught whacking off....or would you? Or getting dressed, or doing any of the usual day-2-day stuff that is a part of life....we never really see that stuff, do we?

What I'd really like to know is whether or not you have a lot of control over the camera....when do you decide to shut it down? Or, rather, when do you decide to post just a single image? Are you doing something that you don't want us to see or is the camera not working so well? Like now....or rather yesterday since I haven't checked it since then....it seems to be a fairly funky distorted image of your tv....what made you decide to put a camera in your bedroom anyway? And then in the office? Or was it the other way around?

To be honest, I think I prefer not to have the camera on 24-7....I believe it provides a bit more mystery...."will he be there? what will I see today?" I remember being sort of excited when I finally saw you on the cam....live that is. That is much more of a thrill (however cheap it may be) than to see someone ALL the time....

ahh....oooh. A bit of a ramble there, huh? And I'm not even going to check it for typos, like I usually do....

the bedroom cam has been on the blink lately. it's really a pain in the ass to run a webcam over dialup. but i switched from quickcam to my camcorder and the thing that transports the images from the camcorder runs off a 9-volt battery and the battery life is not long at all. so i need to plug it into an adapter which is around here somewhere.

i forget all the time that i have that thing running. it's not really about being seen, it's just that in some ways i like the company of whoever is sitting on the other end.

i remember a sea change in how i thought about the internet came the day i got CU-SeeMe (a videoconfereincing program which works over the internet) to work sucessfully over a 14.4 modem.

I connected to a reflector and slowly, bit by bit appeared the live image of a kid sitting in a library in South Carolina. You could sort of see him moving around and waving at the camera, though the bandwidth was so tiny you could barely get anything through it.

Suddenly I saw that all these people whose anonymity made them seem so threatening on-line were nothing more than skinny pinheads (like me) with this new thing called internet access that made them feel powerful but which by its enormity reduced us all to nothing.

Anyway, I'm not going to ramble on about this, either. Getting back to Jenni, I don't spend any time on her site, either, mostly because any time I go there the site is hopelessly slow. Jenni interests me by her plainness, and that is all, but I don't make any effort to go see what she's up to. she's more of an idea to be developed by others than something worth seeing.

i just thought of something funny from the NPR interview she did. they interviewed her boyfriend and asked him how he felt having sex on camera and being on display like this and he just sort of mumbled and said this and that and man i laughed and laughed and said "god, that guy is not gonna make it!"

In my perfect world, I belive he would have said: "what camera?"

You're not a pinhead!. Skinny maybe. But yr head is perfectly normal-sized.

If I ever had sex with someone & found out afterwards he was broadcasting it over the web/I kill the bastard on the spot with the first thing I cd find. And I'll bet I wd beat it in court!

I've never understood where that level of extreme exhibitionism comes from in people... I mean, jeez -- go find an open mike nite & do stand-up. Or something.

Well I do like the new image on the office cam....of the NYC skyline. Maybe someday you'll be able to do a time-lapsed series of the images....like that street corner in (Colorado?). Or a time-lapse of your office itself....see the people rushing in, rushing out, the lights turning on, turning off....seems to me like that would be a rather cool idea. But then again, I'm just a freak :)

It is now 2:34pm Eastern Time on November
25, 2003. I came here while writing a report for
English. I am writing this because I seem to
be the first in over 5 years. I am now
considered "one of a kind." Thank you.
