    I saw that on the news last night and almost cried. I loved her voice, it brings back memories, but I can't remember any of her songs. Bummer.

    WTF. Babtunde Olatunji died too! and his viewing and funeral services are here in austin.

    i never got to see Nina Simone (maybe that's obvious), but i did get to hear Babtunde play back when i was living in hawaii. that was intense and beautiful.

    I have never seen any of the artists I really enjoy play live. My list of concerts include Chuck Mangione, 50's reunion concerts (multiple bands playing 30 years past their prime), Styx and Kansas. That is it in my entire life. How sad. Oh well. There is plenty of time left to see others.

    I just loved the deep, soul searching, kinda voice in jazz singers.

    Yeah, well at that time I was the hill family in Cali. We saw him at the Hollywood bowl in the 70's and I was like 4 or some shit like that.
