You know I support the right to own guns, but when it comes to teachers at school, check them at the door. |
This one teacher I had in Grade 7 once went apeshit on a kid with an extremely weighty textbook... our class sat there shocked. The kid bled. That teacher is gone now, good thing he didnt have a gun... he looked like that bald guy from Evening Shade/Sesame Street who died recently.. |
The idea of someone carrying a concealed weapon around a school where my kids are freaks me out. And therefore any school where any kids are. I don't know what to think if some teacher used that as a threat to keep studens in line....I mean, wouldn't that outrage hormone driven teenagers into bringing more guns in themselves? "Teacher says if we don't behave out comes the gun, well fuck that, I'll show her a gun" kinda thing. |

lol i think it may be in case there was a school shooting, one or more of the school employees could defend the students. Or deter kids bringing guns because one or more of their teachers may be packing heat...you don't know which one, so you better watch it. Kinda like planting an 'air marshal' on a plane, or whatever those guys are called? but yeah, it's still dumb. |
I don't think pilots should have guns anymore than teachers. and its absurd to think this is a publically funded school system. If private schools want to arm its teachers, so be it. There's no logic to state that schools and the children within will be safer with armed teachers, if anything, they will become more dangerous. |

its a fine line open for abuse, as far as when pictures are deemed "porn". because taking a pic of a baby in her bath is technically against the law. arming a pilot doesnt solve the problem anymore than arming teachers solves any problem of safety. how many dead passengers or stewards would it take before a pilot opens the cockpit to the terrorist? would a pilot drop his tazer or gun if the terrorist had a steward or a child's life in his hands? a pilots job when hijacked is to get the motherfuckin plane on the ground. arming a pilot just increases the chance the weapon could be used against him and thats counterproductive. the effort to keep a plane from becoming a weapon is to make the cockpit entirely unaccessable. once the plane is on the ground, the authorities can take over. |

sealing the cockpit is the best solution under the circumstances. no matter how many potential scenarios you play out the safety of EVERYONE on board is in danger the minute the pilot or co pilot is NOT flying that plane. the second that cockpit door is opened, the safety of everyone is jeopardized even further. terrorists want control of the plane, period. deny them that and there's little gain. once the plane is on the ground the hostage situation could be turned over to those better trained to deal with such matters. Does Israel arm its pilots? I dont believe they do. As it stands now, the mentality of the public along with heightened security and on-board undercover marshalls our planes are about as safe as they can be. training pilots to use weapons doesnt really add up to shit. even if a pilot were to be armed, say the cabin is taken over, what does the pilot do? leave his seat and hope he wins the fight? what if he looses, the entire safety is compromised. yeah if he wins it could be a quick solution but there are too many variables involved with pilots having arms and leaving the cockpit to fight. the first priority in a hijacking is denying control of the plane. that is compromised if a pilot engages in a battle. now, i wouldnt be against a taser so much as i would a gun. but the protocol should be to keep the cabin sealed, get the plane on the ground at all costs. a plane isnt a weapon anymore once its on the ground. |
Having 2 or more armed pilots in the cockpit, and cameras in the passenger cabin. Otherwise, you are going to have these thugs start killing as soon as the plane starts going in for a landing. and placing a bulk head between the cabin means you have to put a bathroom in the flight cabin, as well as coffee pot and what ever else they need. No, there is no garauntee, of course not. But neither is there any way to prevent somebody from loading their car full of explosives, and blow it up in middle of rush hour. I am suprised that has not happened yet. But having trained armed guards on the air craft, either flying it or sitting with the passengers, seems better then most of the alternatives. |

what about international pilots trace? do all pilots get guns? its illegal to own a fire arm in most of the world yet they are to make exceptions for pilots? who would oversee the pilot/gun matter? the FAA? what about international standards and practice? does the US police the entire global airline business? making cabins secure with air marshalls is the best way to go and yes, of course preventing terrorist from getting on is the first line of D. like i said, what does El Al or Tower Air do? They havent had a hijacking since the late 60s fiasco during the Olympics and no pilots are armed. Its just so typical of knee-jerk reaction, its annoying. |

Do I agree with educators packing pistols? arming pilots would be the quickest and least expensive way, for now, to attempt to address the current problem. Or armed air marshalls. Future air craft designs should take the terrorist threat into account. |
The best way to defend your life and the lives of your family is a legal firearm in the hands of a trained shooter. Please note I said legal firearm and trained shooter. The government can not protect you from everything!!! You most take responsibility for that yourself. Yes there will be tragedies. There always have been and there always will be. Life is a risk. Why shouldn't teachers have a right to be armed. The schools already have armed security. And, metal detectors at the doors. I don't think these have saved that many lives. |

Were there to be teachers carrying concealed weapons in the school that the girls were meant to be in, I can guarantee you one thing.......in spite of the fact that I think I can't do it, I would home school them, and they would not have contact with these schools. I would probably actively try to get as many parents as possible to do the same, for their children's sakes, and create a network of home schooled children, so that they won't lose out on social skills because of it. My children will never go to school to learn how to study and fear their teacher. If you are constantly scared of all of the teachers around you, how the hell will you be able to learn? |
what current problem? hijacking is a problem since when? how many airplane hijackings are there a year? the problem isn't airplane safety. Flying is still really goddamn safe. As usual, it's paranioa. second thing is the 'child porn' issue. I don't have children, so bear with me here, but i've never understood why people take naked bath pics of their kids at all. Why not just get a diaper on em or something? I've come across baby photos of me naked, and i was so upset and pissed at my parents i think i threw most of them out. Is there a reason to do this? I guess my issue is that if anyone took nudey pics of me today, right now, they'd have to get my consent or go to jail. But when i was baby it was different....? I find it questionable, anyhoo. |
i think i've taken about4 bath shots, and i think accidentally included her nether regions. its not something im keen on doing, because though she doesnt have the ability to tell me to stop taking her god damn picture, i'll at least limit the embarrassing shots to G-rated. |
