Remember when Enron's house of cards was starting to collapse? It came out that Dubya's #1 financial sugar daddy paying for his presidential campaign, Enron CEO "Kennny-Boy" Lay, had made some phone calls to HIS boy in the White House. At the time, speculation that Lay was cashing in his political chips by asking the shrub to get the govt to "bail out" Enron could be denied with a straight face (at the time it was not yet known outside the company that it had NO assets and could not be bailed out under ANY circumstances and its stock still had most of its value.) Martha Stewart's insider info saved her $40k. Shrub later told us that EVEN Jeb's mother-in-law lost some dough--I guess the prez wanted us to know he shared the pain of shareholders who lost <$40bn. Fast-forward to triumphal address from deck of aircraft carrier where he said he'd "take care of those irresponsible CEOs." Now do you get what he meant? So when does Lay get arrested? My guess is not until due process could not possibly put him in the can before Nov 2004 when, win or lose, Bush will never face the voters again and can pardon his pal without any political pain.
