H.RES.635 Title: Creating a select committee to investigate the Administration's intent to go to war before congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, encouraging and countenancing torture, retaliating against critics, and to make recommendations regarding grounds for possible impeachment. (Currently in the House Committee on rules) H.RES.636 Title: Censuring President George W. Bush for failing to respond to requests for information concerning allegations that he and others in his Administration misled Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war in Iraq, misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for the war, countenanced torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment of persons in Iraq, and permitted inappropriate retaliation against critics of his Administration, for failing to adequately account for specific misstatements he made regarding the war, and for failing to comply with Executive Order 12958. (Currently in the House Committee on the Judiciary) H.RES.637 Title: Censuring Vice President Richard B. Cheney for failing to respond to requests for information concerning allegations that he and others in the Administration misled Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war in Iraq, misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for the war, countenanced torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment of persons in Iraq, and permitted inappropriate retaliation against critics of the Administration and for failing to adequately account for specific misstatements he made regarding the war. (Currently in the House Committee on the Judiciary) What I think is fascinating about this whole affair is that...none...of the major news outlets are covering it all. Now, granted, it has been referred to committee, which means it has a high chance of death at this point, unless other reps step up and champion it as well. But still. Congress is finally growing some goddamn testicles and doing something about this administration and this is apparently far less newsworthy than "The UPS Hustle," which is the headline in the Northern California edition of the Chronicle this morning. |
