Sorry, I haven't been checking the post lately, two jobs and a college class kept me real busy lately.

I have been checking the news awaiting for the disappearance of Flight MH 370. Other than that, someone threw a shoe at Hilary Clinton, and then there is a stand off at the Nevada ranch between the law enforcement and the Militia, and Pro Russian protester keeps eating up Ukraine's eastern area.

So, have a great weekend, I will be looking forward to enjoy the view of Lake Michigan in Chicago over the weekend.

By Antigone on Friday, April 11, 2014 - 08:26 pm:

I weighed 223.5 pounds today. Haven't weighed that much
since 2001. I recently discovered that, in addition to the
ketogenic diet (low carb, high fat) I can trigger fat loss by 1)
taking bicarbonates of sodium, potassium, magnesium, and
calcium and, 2) eat more glycine sources. (Mainly gelatin, i.e.
Jello). Since doing those two things a couple of weeks ago I've
    lost 7 pounds, all fat.

By droopy on Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 02:56 pm:

i think the heaviest i've ever been was 200 or so.
i stay fairly slim by rolling myself all over the
damn place in a manual wheelchair.

think i'll roll myself up to the main st. arts
    fest this evening.

i keep up with the news, but there's not much i
    can do about it.

i've got to get a decent camera. this morning, as
i sat outside drinking coffee, a spiny lizard was
cavorting around my back porch. i first noticed
him on top of the fence. i moved forward for a
better look, and some of those "oh yeah, i'm bad"
push-ups that lizards do. i had my ipad with me,
and tried to take a picture. but by the time i got
the thing out of the case, got on, accessed the
camera and pointed to shoot, the lizard was gone.

next i heard him rustling around in the dead
leaves under my bushes. next he appeared on a
tree; i couldn't get very close, but i snapped a
picture anyway. i tried to zoom in on him, but
that only made the picture more blurry.

this is a habit i got into: taking pictures of
bugs, birds and critters around town so i can
identify them later. just for the hell of it. all
the pictures suck because they were taken on an
    ipad.

recently, my cousin started a wikitree for my
mother's side of the family. for "the farm." my
father has been emailing a lot, lately. which is
surprising, because we have been cordially
avoiding each other for decades. i think he's
feeling his mortality coming on. anyway, i told
him about the tree, and told him i could start one
for his side of the family.

my father never talked about his family. i'm not
sure if he's actually ashamed, but maybe his roots
were too humble for him to admit to. i know he
never allowed his second wife, who came from a
rich family, to visit the house he grew up in.

but he said he would answer questions about his
family. i haven't started asking, but it'll be
interesting to see how this turns out.

Antigone, my doctor recommends me to lose the weight, I am closer to your weigh. He is a little concerned about my weight that will affects my bone's joint systems.
He suggest that I lay off the drinks (Soft drink) and find a job that is not stressing me out. Yes, lately people are slacking themselves off and trying to shrugs themselves off from the job duties.
Lately, again, our work are expanding the part of building which is the office. We had the warehouse expanded 9 years ago.
Droopy, when you mentioned the lizard, I remember seeing this for the first time in Texas. I came up closer to see if they run off from me.

By la on Monday, April 14, 2014 - 11:46 am:

216 earlier this week, down from 220ish.

I'm riding my bike a ton and eating less (I
haven't been wanting to eat as much since I've
    gotten busier).

When I started riding again a month and a half
ago, my recovery time was slow. A thirty-mile
ride would leave me hurting and worn out the next
day. Now I eat a ton and go to bed earlier, but
the sprints hurt more than on a fresh day.
Getting it back. I try to do a few reps of 10 of
girl pushups too. I'll probably reincorporate
running, but I want to wait for a better weight
for my feet. Once I have my own space again (be
it room or apartment) I plan on going vegan.
Besides, there's all the fruit on the trees.....

I've finally removed most of my things from my
ex's place and am bouncing around at friends'
homes until I get back on my feet. If I don't
hear from one job, I'm supposed to call tomorrow
afternoon; I also have a group interview
    scheduled.

    la, You should check out
    http://reddit.com/r/ketogai
    ns

Lots of folks are having great results with endurance sports and the
ketogenic diet. I'm not hard core, but I've gone from being tired
after walking for thirty minutes to taking two hour seven mile walks
daily in a fasting state. (I walk in the mornings and don't eat my
first meal until 1pm or so.) I have tons and tons of energy. And
you can go vegan and eat a ketogenic diet. Coconut oil and hemp
    protein for the win! :)

By la on Monday, April 14, 2014 - 03:31 pm:

Might be something to look into..... once I've
got my own setup again I'm planning on baking all
my bread (again... higher quality food/eating
less bread) and loading up on salads and sauteed
greens. That's most of how I lost so much weight
    two years ago.

I'm excited about the recovery more than anything.
Cycling is my life. When I go out, I try to take
transit as little as possible.... I started going
on rides again not quite two months ago, then
added a volunteer job two weeks ago that's twice a
week until I find a job and was 7 miles RT (now
it's more like 11, who knows what it will be on
Thursday). I'm starting to sing and dance again
and feeling more positive and ready to do
things... just on bikes and sunshine and
volunteering and a little less cheese and butter!

By Antigone on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 12:08 am:

    Less cheese, more butter. :)

I deadlifted 100 pounds this week. So proud of myself.

There's a guy -- a college student -- at this gym who can dl 550 lbs.

By la on Saturday, April 19, 2014 - 06:33 pm:

My cousin was into lifting for a bit, a while back.

There was a guy who trained at his gym who wore the
leotards, the waxed mustache... the whole strong
    man thing.

By la on Monday, April 21, 2014 - 04:17 am:

    oh, and as of today......

    i have a job! a jerb! a job-job-jobby-jorb!

it doesn't pay much, but i get free falafels (and
the pita! so good when hot!), have a decent
commute (10 miles of flat, not-too-busy roads to
ride back-and-forth on), and my foot in the door.
i don't even have to touch meat. the owner
observed me this afternoon and said he liked my
confidence and volunteering, and that he prefers
precision to speed. i think i can deal with it
    for a while.

By Spider on Monday, April 21, 2014 - 04:45 pm:

    Congratulations, girl!

By la on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 - 09:31 pm:

By droopy on Friday, April 25, 2014 - 12:59 am:

    all's well.

yesterday i got an invitation to go to an italian
place. by email. i replied, in the affirmative,
with one of the few italian phrases i know:
    mangiamo!

    the response was: wtf!

the auto-correct on my ipad had changed
    "mangiamo!" to "man gizmo!"

at first that seemed funny. then, the more i
thought about it, it became sinister. i think
that's how my computer thinks of me: a man gizmo.

By Pepper on Friday, April 25, 2014 - 08:10 pm:

That what happened to me when sending from iphone.

By droopy on Saturday, April 26, 2014 - 12:45 am:

    i know.

to be honest, sometimes i think the human race is
nothing more than a filthy, violent evolutionary
step to a perfect silicon based intelligence.

you may call me a dreamer, but i'm not the only one.

By Czarina on Saturday, April 26, 2014 - 12:10 pm:

Are you suggesting that we are not?

By The Watcher on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 - 05:42 am:

I went to the local pistol range today. Took my new 1911 45.

I needed to feel the recoil of the 45 rounds.

I wasn't very accurate today. for some reason I just couldn't focus on the sights.

It didn't matter. I just needed the recoil.

Saw John Malkovich's movie "Deadly Codes" I find this interesting... So he has the icon of Virgin Mary holding Russian guns? I find this hilarious.

By J on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - 03:25 am:

Somtimes I worry about you Watcher, with depression and a
    gun.

By Pepper on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - 11:39 am:

It is a sad and cruelty world we are living. My warehouse manager are really rude at me when I told her about the situation that been going on and she yelled at me " I don't want to hear about it!". Apparently to me, she just a skank.
I was hoping that the Watcher pulls himself through. It is not a simple task.

By The Watcher on Thursday, July 3, 2014 - 05:42 am:

No problem with me and guns. I know suicidal thoughts are the disease and not me. If I get any strong ones I know it is time to go to the hospital.

I use the guns for self defense and stress relief only.

Like Droopy said I just love to feel the power. I can target all my stress, anxiety, anger, and any other negative thoughts towards that paper target. Then send them flying.

It really is great to release those feelings.

By droopy on Friday, July 4, 2014 - 12:50 am:

    try this.

Mouse rolled up his cuffs to just below the knee.
I couldn't figure out why he did that, because
then he waded into the water up to his waist. In
one hand he had the pistol and in the other he had
some crackers or dried bread that pulled from his
shirt pocket. He sprinkled the crumbs in the water
    and stood stock still.

Out in the water, just to the left of where Mouse
stood, came a sucking sound and a droplet of water
leaped up into the air. Then to the right, two
    droplets, also with sucking sounds.

Mouse slowly scattered the last of his bread into
the pond. Then, carefully and slow, like a
stalking cat raising his claws, Mouse brought the
pistol over his head, holding it with both hands
so that the barrel pointed at the water; his
thumbs were on the trigger and his fingers were
    laced around the butt.

    He fired.

"Get yo' sack out fo' they get away!"

I saw the unconscious fish. It seemed like
hundreds of them, but I guess it couldn't have
been so many. Pale white underbellies of gar,
catfish, carp, and fish I had never seen. They
shuddered in the water like they were dead. Mouse
told me later that it was the force of the hollow-
nosed soft-lead bullet hitting the water that
    knocked them out.

"That's why you gotta catch'em quick," he said.
"Fo' they come awake an' slip down 'tween yo'
    legs."

    It was terrible.

(edited from "gone fishin'" by walter mosley)

By Pepper on Friday, July 4, 2014 - 01:16 am:

droopy, I was a little appalled by your story, at first, I thought he was about to commit suicide. But, very interesting part on how he lured the fish the quickest way. The moral of story is: Find the way to distract yourself from being depressed.

And now, I have three days weekend, I am going out of the town for to take a look at countryside to see if I can find myself a secret place to build a secret cabin. I have put off my plan for a long time and now, this weekend is my time to search for a land to take a look at it.

Also, I had some trouble with my brand new laptop. It is windows 8.1 and I am working on it.

By droopy on Saturday, July 5, 2014 - 12:36 am:

honestly, i just wanted to see if anybody would try
that. i'd be interested to see what would happen in
    real life.

By Pepper on Saturday, July 5, 2014 - 11:42 am:

You got your points. The work puts too much stress on me.

By Pepper on Saturday, July 5, 2014 - 10:35 pm:

Well, I just got back from three hour trip out of town.

I think, I plan going little further later this week. All I am looking for some hills and valley.

The new iphone helps me with the gps and maps, it shows me where I am at without using the mapbook.

    Whadda say? droopy?

By droopy on Monday, July 7, 2014 - 01:23 am:

about travel? i think it's a good idea. i should
travel more. "the importance of elsewhere".

about technology? whatever works, i guess. i still
don't have a cell phone. i have an ipad, though. i
notice that whenever i take a picture, it records
the date, time, and place (to the street). scary.

By Pepper on Monday, July 7, 2014 - 07:32 am:

Didn't you watch "1984"? Big Brother along with Microsoft has arrived to take reign of our society.

I have been hearing about the F.E.M.A are taking the stockpile of foods that American are stocking up and doomsday are coming.

I had some trouble sleeping again for the last few days and I am about getting tired of it. Something is up with the government.

By droopy on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 - 01:24 am:

i read the the book "1984". at least all they had to

i want to die utterly forgotten.
