I don't believe I ever thanked you properly for this little cassette tape of joy...and I lost your new email address, so I can't tell you this privately, but: that tape rocks My roommate and I were listening to it last night as we made dinner and we had to stop at every song and squeal, "oh my God, this is great!" All those cheesily good '80s songs....the theme from the Neverending Story? How cool is that, I ask you? I just noticed that you had a thematic progression from song to song. "Macho Man" was followed by that slimy "boom boom boom" song (who sings that, btw?), for example. Very nice!

hehe i was wondering if you had listened to that yet - I thought it was tacky but funny. I've got a list of the songs and artists at home so I'll email it to you. I think that Boom Boom Boom song is by some guy called Paul something - uh I'll check it when I get home. I can remember dancing to that in a nightclub when I was very underage.

The phone rang at 3am again. I had to hold myself down...what I wanted to do was rise out of bed with a roar like an enraged tiger and rip the phone to bits. But I didn't. I kind of groaned and reached for a pillow instead.

Hey Mavis! I got Candy!! I am way scared to open the Chick-O-Stick (that sounds like it should be pornographic) but yum everything else. Wonka candy smells so delicious. Ohmigod, Chick O Stix??? I used to get those in junior high school. There was an arcade right near the JHS and a candy store. My lunches consisted of chick-o-stix and assorted other candies and coke. We spent the lunch hour playing foosball. We got really good. I didn't know they still made those.

Somebody send me one? I've never experienced the Chix-O-Stix goodness.

by the way i saw 3 different Smints commercials last night. Isolde, you some sort of marketing guru or have the always been available here? I got the impression they were imported, by you personally.

I did imporat them personally, because I couldn't find lemon smints anywhere at home. Maybe they've added them now, though...

Chick-o-stix are kinda like a cigar shaped version of the inside of a butterfinger or 5th avenue (no chocolate tho). I had one when I was in Seattle, I never saw them in Boston before. Lik-m-aid (with sticks) is far different. Like a pixy stick with a dipping stick. Ooh I loved it tho. It comes in more flavors now than when I was a kid. Has anyone else had the Wonka X-Ploder? It's sort of cheap chocolate with rice krispies and pop rocks. If you get a good one, after you eat it your head fizzes from the pop rocks. It is way cool. Also, when I was in England in the spring they had Simpson's shaped snacks. Krusty the Klown krispy chicken flavored heads, 'No Problem - 0's', 'Eat My Shorts' (shorts shaped pizza flavored!) and my favorite 'Wedgies' which were shaped like small cheeze flavored asses. OK, maybe I am ass-obsessed. I just couldn't imagine why anyone would make a crispy snack shaped like ASS. That was marketing genius.

Sounds like machismo to me: now joining cigarette smokers, hunger artists, necro- and cocro-philiacs and piercing / tattoo fetishists in the category of people who do painful or lame things to be cool: Ass-eaters. "Be careful, there, son. That's a whole lotta ass you're trying to eat. From now on, leave ass-eating to the professionals.
