We have always had problems when it comes to Hayley moving on to the next grade as normal. Not that she isn't smart enough, but that she was behind in areas, especially math. For her to go on to the 4th grade she had to pass the reading portion of the test which was given at the beginning of the month. She has finally gotten all of her grades up and her classroom performance is good enough that she won't have to take summer school. Whether or not she goes on to 4th grade with no major drama this year, and actually has a summer vacation for the first time ever, is resting on the shoulders of her test results. They just came in. In order to pass she had to score a 2029 or higher (how they come up with these numbers is beyond me). She scored a 2342. Not only did she pass but she was one question off of the commendable score. If she had answered one more question correctly (she only missed a grand total of 3 on the whole test) then she would have automatically qualified to be tested for the gifted program. Either way, stress over, Hayley passed and did well. Yeah for my soon to be 4th grader (OMG did I just say that, I am getting old!). The math portion of the test is at the end of April and she is getting tutoring to help her in that area as well. Hopefully she will pass that one as well, but who knows. She only got a 54% on the practice test. |
