considering this....and the fact that i got a small 3% raise with a potential extra 4% in year end bonuses...i AM cheerful.

Granted ive taken on more work...Im spread more thin....but what the hell.

In this economy, my business, these days its all about holding the line and im holding the line well.

    spunk.

    its a raise.

my wife and i own a company...of course Im a capitalist.

you think this is a knock of some sort?

you're silly. stop fucking up my cheerful thread with your mundane comments.

actually speaking of capitalist cheer....nico met with her japanese partner....actually an agent from the company she worked for for many years. t

they've been hounding her to license mille nico in japan for a year or so. they are serious. they actually want her to come to Japan asap. actually the main driving force behind the license deal is a chain of trendy boutiques in Japan. They have over 200 shops. the president, whom nico worked with for a number of years wants the good yesterday.

they pay for manufacturing, they oversee delivery. essentially we license the concept and design. they have their own design team as well but they have to get nico's approval so we have control over what is produced under the brand.

we get a percentage. they could also handle our manufacturing for the US market which has been our biggest catch 22... being able to meet factory minimums on a terribly small marketing budget.

even though we havent really shipped goods from the latest catalog, though we've taken a few small orders and Barney's NYC is interested and has the line under consideration.....we've still maintained the presence...and its about to pay off.

One step closer to being that stay at home dad while mom works her magic to making the million we need to buy that house in Big Sur and retire by 35.

Patrick, that is fantastic. When will Nico sign the deal with the Japanese?

I got a 3.5% raise, effective May 1. I'm hoping that will cover the rent increase I'm getting this year with a little more to spare.

By patrick on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 03:26 pm:

yeah, my immediate raise pretty much covers my increased healthcare as of late with milkdud's arrival.

she's going to try and get to Japan sometime this summer to seal the deal. but it may happen in a matter of weeks.

Wow congrats! That sounds awesome! I haven't seen a recent catalog!!!!!!! I liked the designs but was allergic to the wool in the sweaters. I have a feeling there isn't much wool in a spring/summer line. I need a frickin catalog!!!!

and i know you've seen it because you said the model looks stoned in some of the pics

By eri on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 03:42 pm:

OK,OK, I have seen it. Sorry.

Are you upset about what I said about the model? I didn't mean to upset you.

By eri on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 03:44 pm:

I want the off-shoulder split knit shirt. I didn't see prices, though. or fabric content.

I don't know shit about the internet. If I can't point and click then it is just too much work!

By Spider on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 03:50 pm:

That shirt dress is so cute.

By patrick on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 03:52 pm:

where did i say i was upset?

there arent prices because we sell to retailers not direct to consumers.

if there are extras....i'll let you know, but as of now...with the pregnancy and all...we're terribly behind with this. we only ordered, thus far, small quantities to fill a few orders.

so...its best to consider this line a wash. but we move forward regardless.

wait till you see the next one. the photos in particular should be a hit.

By eri on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 03:56 pm:

You modeling again? I look forward to the next one.

By patrick on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 04:01 pm:

    no. my modeling career ended.

its the set up...the photo set that we have in mind that should make it a stylistic hoot

By eri on Friday, May 2, 2003 - 04:26 pm:

Sounds cool. Though I did love the background on the shots where you were modeling. I thought that whole catalog looked amazing.

I was looking at some art yesterday, and as I looked at these paintings (trying to decide if they were what I wanted to put up in the master bedroom) all I could think was that I wanted one like that of ME in it. Conceited probably, but they were beautiful, if only it was my face in a frame on my husbands desk. Then I thought of you. When I think of wanting truly beautiful, non-standard pictures, something a bit more artistic with an edge, I think of you. So I guess that would be conceited me giving you a huge compliment.
