the google bombers have found us.....

By droopy on Thursday, July 21, 2005 - 02:46 pm:

i had to look up google bomber:

A Google bomb or Google wash is an attempt to influence the ranking of a given site in results returned by the Google search engine. Due to the way that Google's PageRank algorithm works, a website will be ranked higher if the sites that link to that page all use consistent anchor text. Googlebomb is used both as a verb and a noun.

i see our bomb attack has been cleaned up. i assume it was attempt to raise the ranking of the company. seems like a bad idea. what would prevent the vengeful cold-blooded hackers on a site like this to google bomb his company's name so that it would come up in a search for "fraudulent company"?

ah, I've taught someone a new word. Most productive thing I've done all day.

That was like jizzmop, only better. Neat. I must admit I quailed earlier today at the returns on results of search. This is much nicer.

Droop, also check out jooglebomb for a good time.

those posts are generated automatically by a jackhammer perl script and the people who run the scripts probably don't even know this particular site exists. there's no point in taking a logical approach to that stuff. the web sites advertised come and go guerilla style. contact info is always bogus, and the sites are registered through some 5th level Chinese reseller registrar. who cares. it's just drive-by spew off the public network and it's hardly the first time it's happened here.

Eat hot fuck, Sir Snarky McSnarkster!

Sorry, that was some sort of kneejerk reaction. I'm posting it anyhow.
