The song starts quietly: "I just spent an hour here, watching your hands..." Then it explodes into a ferociously menacing instrumental bridge that lasts and lasts and is full of guitar, drum, and hammered dulcimer madness. I'm bopping on my chair as I type this. It explodes and keeps exploding, as the momentum builds and doesn't let up. Then an abrupt stop, and the vocals start again: "a blank expression of thanks desires to be filled..." only this time, the menace remains, until the verse ends and the explosion reoccurs. WHOOOOOSSSHHH!!! You can't sit still to this. They played this at the show and even people seated on the floor were swinging their hips and swiveling their heads to the rhythm. I was standing up and had to hold on to the ledge against the wall to keep from falling down. The drums felt like my own heartbeat. It was awesome. |
"Hey shitmouth! I love you, will you marry me?" |

I've never heard of Small Brown Bike, either (though their name intrigues me). Do they play similar LORD-esque music? I hate it when people mention bands I don't know. Though once, in high school, having a friend who was like that too, I started going on and on about a lovely band called...um...let's see...Scooter Pie, and she said "Oh my God, I love them" and I laughed and said "oh you do? I just made them up! Hee heee!!" I think she only spoke to me about two times after that. |
