When you were very young, The world was younger than you, As merry as a carousel The circus tent was strung With every star in the sky Above the ring you loved so well Now the young world has grown old Gone are the silver and gold Sit there and count your fingers What can you do? Old girl, you're through Just sit there and count your little fingers Unhappy little girl blue Sit there and count the raindrops Falling on you It's time you knew All you can count on are the raindrops That fall on little girl blue No use, old girl You might as well surrender Your hopes are getting slender Why won't somebody send a tender blue boy To cheer up little girl blue? The album also includes "Glad to Be Unhappy," "Where or When," "Wait Till You See Her," "Dancing on the Ceiling," and of course, "My Funny Valentine." I hadn't listened to this album in months, but then I started getting this line -- "now I even have to scratch my back myself" -- stuck in my head, and I couldn't figure out what song it was from except that I knew it was a Sinatra song. Now I know it's from "It Never Entered My Mind." I don't know if this is a national program or not, but at least here on the radio there's this man, Sid Mark, who hosts "Friday with Frank" and "Sunday with Sinatra" on, believe it or not, Fridays and Sundays. A few months ago, he was playing a whole bunch of studio outtakes that Frank had deemed unfit for the public's ears. One song was this incredible duet (to me, it sounded perfect) with Keely Smith. Their voices blended so well together that I knew I had to find a recording of them singing together. I have no idea what the song was called, and I've searched a bunch of music stores and even the internet for Sinatra/Smith duets but to no avail. Alas. |

He was really sweel in the Man With the Golden Arm. That's the name of it, right? I only have one album of his. It's him with Tommy Dorsey. I really like "Fools Rush In" and "Stardust". I think I'll listen to it now. Thanks Rhinannon. |
.... I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day In everything that's light and gay I'll always think of you that way I'll find you in the morning sun And when the night is new I'll be looking at the moon But I'll be seeing you .... I used to serenade (sp?) a girl with Frank Sinatra all the time. |
