    a few friends and i sit or sprawl here both a bit drunk and a bit stoned listening to a local radio show called "lonestar dead" on a radio station that i urge all dallas sorabjites to experience - if, in fact, you haven't - by tuning to 89.3 fm.

    this is one of those true fan shows that is comprised mostly of the endless amounts of bootleg dead that exists. i'm listening to an extended jam on buddy holly's "not fade away" - a worthy cop of the bo diddly beat.

    the only reason that i write this is, aside from inebriation, to say that phil lesh - bassman for the dead - is one of the best. i've always dug the dead as a total experience - i've been to the odd dead concert - but i've never thought jerry garcia a great guitarist. phil lesh, though, impresses me - always has. he's got soul and is capable of endless invention if you listen.
