THIS IS A READ-ONLY ARCHIVE FROM THE SORABJI.COM MESSAGE BOARDS (1995-2016).

By pez on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - 06:12 pm:

    chorus:
    super meanie girlie head
crawls from the pit, back from the dead
    super meanie girlie head
cold cold heart, made of lead.

today i'm a super meanie girlie head
    laughing in your face,
    features twisted in spite,
and envy of the human race

    chorus

    super meanie girlie head!
    super meanie girlie head!
    super meanie girlie head!
you didn't hear what i said!

    chorus

    super meanie girlie head
    crawls from the pit,
    looking worse than dead
    super meanie girlie head
    has no compassion
because the heart's made of lead!

By Gee on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - 08:26 pm:

    who sings that?

By pez on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 03:18 am:

    nobody. i made it up.

but you can credit it to lauren b. pez/swear.

nothing like the whiny teenybopper complaining about my religion jokes for inspiration.

By Cat on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 04:58 am:

Is it just me or does Van Morrison make anyone else want to take their clothes off?

I really think I am a born stripper. Having a good family and too much education can really hold you back.

By Antigone on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 10:46 am:

    Why hold back?

By patrick on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 11:28 am:

i think Van Morrison is a dork, except Moondance, and only because nico digs it, and has been known to strip to it.

    otherwise he's a 60s folky, dorkfuck tool.

By Dougie on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:12 pm:

Found a great new radio station last night while driving. They played Van Morrison, Neil Finn, some folksy dude doing a nice cover of Mary Black's Shine, Pink Floyd's Fearless from Meddle (which I still have running through my head -- that's a damn catchy opening guitar riff), It's All Too Much plus the orchestral incidental music from Yellow Submarine. I was in hog heaven. Guess I'm a dorkfucklover.

By patrick on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:23 pm:

i wouldn't lump Van in with Floyd or the Beatles.

Id lump his ass with Simon & Garfunkle, Carly Simon, Crosby Stills and Nash and the like.

possibly even Dylan, but Dylan was good at it.

By Spider on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:24 pm:

Hey, I like Simon & Garfunkle. James Taylor, too. I was raised on them.

By patrick on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:25 pm:

i was raised with Bob Segar, Jimmy Buffet, Alabama in the background.

    still sucks.

By heather on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:36 pm:

i was raised on classical, scottish folk, bagpipes and the hallelujah chorus

but i would fall asleep on my grandparent's bed listening to country music with my head on the radio

By semillama on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:42 pm:

I was raised on classical music, until Weird Al opened my eyes to the world of Rock and Roll.

The rest, as they say, is history.

By Spider on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 12:47 pm:

I was raised on classical music, too. And flamenco and belly dancing music.

By J on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 01:08 pm:

    I was raised on country music,Nat King Cole,folk music,Kingston Trio,Paul Evens,The Brothers Four.

By pez on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 02:37 pm:

van morrison? what brought his name on, cat?

i was raised on classical, folk, oldies, classic and soft rock.

i knew who the beatles were before i was in kidnergarten. and realy most music is okay.

but when my dad uses the computer to blast stevie ray vaughn throughout the house for three days, it's overkill. although "pipeline" is lovely. i adore fast paced instrumentals.

my favorite song, i'd have to say, is "a whiter shade of pale."

By Spider on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 02:45 pm:

I like Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Leave My Little Girl Alone." I like "A Whiter Shade of Pale," too.

I was also raised on Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, the Beatles, Stevie Nicks, Led Zeppelin, and the Beach Boys. I still like them all. I had better like Stevie Nicks.

    OHHHHHHH, my BELLA DONNAAAAA

By semillama on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 02:50 pm:

"are you stuck to my back honey?"
"yes. there is a pizza here."

By heather on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 03:00 pm:

the two eight tracks i remember from my mom's station wagon are henry mancini and amy grant

the carpool lady played neil diamond and drove all wiggley and i hated it

By Antigone on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 03:18 pm:

Sem, are you impersonating Mr Spock? Do you have two eyelids?

By semillama on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 03:28 pm:

    "We March! We March! REEEEEEEEEEEE-Tarded!"

By pez on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 05:30 pm:

my dad has a bunch of reel to reels in the basement. iron butterfly, beatles, stones, cream.

By Dougie on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 05:34 pm:

Anybody know anything about Rufus Wainwright? I've been hearing some stuff of his on the radio, which I quite like. What would be a good starter album to get of his? Any relation to Loudon Wainwright?

By Cat on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 05:43 pm:

"van morrison? what brought his name on, cat?"

I got very drunk on lime-splashed gin and was playing some Morrison songs someone I love (or maybe loved) gave me and then I started playing another Morrison number - "Someone Like You" actually - and decided that exactly summed up how I felt about him. But then I played the Dina Carroll version of it from the movie "Bridget Jones" diary, which made me kind of sad because the Van Morrison version is so much better. But it's still quite cool. And anyway.

That doesn't explain it, but it's the best I can do.

By patrick on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 06:00 pm:

Loudon is his father, his mother was also a singer. hes gay, hot and very popular.

his music doesnt really interest me.

By Dougie on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 06:18 pm:

Yeah, I figured he had to be related. He's got a voice I can't pinpoint, but he sounds a almost like Thom Yorke. I'll get his first album and go from there.

By wisper on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 06:26 pm:

    Rufus Wainwright is da SHIT.
get first album good good yes

By Nate on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 06:56 pm:

    rufus bores me.
    blah.

'i wrote this song for my mother because she always says i write such long mournful songs so i decided to write this song for my mother and it is short and upbeat!"

    fucking die rufus.

By patrick on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 07:00 pm:

    chick music.

By patrick on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 07:01 pm:

he was on the cover of nerve recently and i can't figure out what chicks see in his most gruesomely hairy self....other than he's sensitive and writes deep songs.

By wisper on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 - 07:32 pm:

    hairy=BAD
    cute face.

me like sad drunkish singing, like a piano lounge singer from an old movie.

that and i'm a GIANT fag hag

    huge

    but he is talented.

By pez on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 12:37 am:

hair, depending on where and how much, can be intruging.

    on some people.

By Dougie on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 08:20 am:

So that's 2 no's and a yes. I'll go with wisper's recommendation. I like chick music and music by dorkfuckers.

By Spider on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 08:23 am:

    I prefer Elliot Smith.

By patrick on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 11:41 am:

he's a wuss too. he's playing the Silverlake street fair i spoke of.

Texas Teri and the Stiff Ones are playing as well....she's a war monger and queen of general chaos

maybe i can get them together. he needs a woman like her

By Dougie on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 12:47 pm:

So in your book, Simon and Garfunkel is girly music too? CSNY?

By patrick on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 12:52 pm:

    girly music? no.

I admit to liking one S&G song, Cecila. I love songs about prostitutes.

otherwise S&G, and CSNY are like elevator music to me.

By Dougie on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 12:54 pm:

I would've thought you'd like Kodachrome. "...Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah...I gotta Nikon camera, love to take them photographs, so momma don't take my Kodachrome away..."

By J on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 01:03 pm:

My favorite S&G song was The Boxer

By Gee on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 05:56 pm:

anyone who doesn't like Simon and Garfunkle can pick up my clipped-off toenails from the carpet and floss with them.

you Can, but you don't have to. I'm flexable.

I was hoping the song that started this thread had been recorded by somebody. I wanted to listen to it. Pez, will you go land a record contract and record this song for me? please?

By patrick on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 06:06 pm:

    the demanding gee as always.

    flexible, but demanding

By Gee on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 06:16 pm:

I like you so much better now than I did when I first became aware of you.

you remind me of my friend, Louis.

By pez on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 06:36 pm:

if i can find other people to help me out, i will.

but the lil' sis claims royalties.

i'm going to pick up my guitar one of these days and learn how to play. just you wait.

By patrick on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 06:46 pm:

im glad to see you back gee.

By Gee on Thursday, August 2, 2001 - 08:08 pm:

how can you see my back from all the way over there?

ha! I'm so funny! I'm also bored.

I can steal long distance phone calls, you know.

By patrick on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 11:36 am:

you should think of ten questions and call sorabji peeps and post the the survery, then we can discuss.

    10 questions.

pretend to be a telemarketer with nothing to sell.

    if you want my number...

By Spider on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 12:18 pm:

    I like that idea.

By Spider on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 12:18 pm:

Not the telemarketer disguise, though. I'd hang up before answering the questions.

By patrick on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 12:42 pm:

well yeah , of course....but i know gee likes to pretend...so i thought that might be an encouragment for her.

By Spider on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 03:12 pm:

Not if she thinks no one will talk to her. Why pretend?

I think we should each call one of us at random and ask 10 questions, but *only* ask 10 questions. I would love to call up some of you, ask the questions, and then hang up. No chit chat. No "so how are you?" No. Business only. I'd probably giggle throughout the interview and then laugh maniacally afterwards.

By semillama on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 03:57 pm:

There's no way you could only ask 10 questions of cat. WEll, you could, but it would still be a long phone call.

Cat is a good phone talker.

By J on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 03:58 pm:

Everyone keeps changing their e-mail address, but check your e-mail Spider the one at excite.

By wisper on Saturday, August 4, 2001 - 01:03 am:

    Gee, do as patrick says.
    awesome

By Gee on Sunday, August 5, 2001 - 01:03 am:

    I will consider it.

Patrick, you can give me your phone number. or anyone can.

By Cat on Sunday, August 5, 2001 - 04:36 am:

I do love a chat. But I don't like questions. Unless I'm asking.

By Antigone on Monday, August 6, 2001 - 11:37 am:

    Why no questions, Cat?

By patrick on Monday, August 6, 2001 - 11:42 am:

yeah whats the big idea lady?

By agatha on Monday, August 6, 2001 - 12:14 pm:

    jill scott.

that's the song that's going through my head right now.
