Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to do.
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.
I hope you had the time of your life.

I hope you had the time of your life.

By Rowlfe on Sunday, December 7, 2003 - 11:05 am:

its funny to see you quote a band thats almost at a Dixie Chicks level notoriety for Bush protesting...

By spunky on Sunday, December 7, 2003 - 11:15 am:

    *groan*

    not everything is about politics.

I really dont care about thier political intelligence, or lack there of, I like the song and it reflects the current phase of my life.

By Rowlfe on Sunday, December 7, 2003 - 12:00 pm:

    thats fine

but its still funny to me

By semillama on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 10:39 am:

I wouldn't compare them to the Dixie Chicks in terms of notoriety. A progressive stacne is expected of punk groups, but not of country artists. If the Dixie Chicks suddenly decide that they want to be in the same camp as Steve Earle artistically as well as politically, then that would be something to talk about.

By Rowlfe on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 10:49 am:

    "but not of country artists."

Earle, Cash, Case, Nelson... all are/were really tough on bush... and have you heard of the Pine Valley Cosmonauts and all the artists they work with?

I've become used to country artists getting involved with politics...

By semillama on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 01:05 pm:

Add Merle Haggard to that list.

By Rowlfe on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 01:27 pm:

and on the conservative end of things, you've got Charlie Daniels and Toby Keith talking it up...

While I dont mind when Charlie Daniels does it, Toby Keith irks me. One, his music is terrible. Two, his lyrics are even worse. Three, he actually LOOKS annoying. and Four, in his case, I wonder how much of it he really believes and how much of it is taking advantage of a situation.

I finally saw Live from Bagdad last night.

CNN is a bunch of Media Whore Fuckos.

By Rowlfe on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 01:39 pm:

    oh, they all are.

By Rowlfe on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 02:32 pm:

"Add Merle Haggard to that list"

I'm kinda surprised he was against the war, considering he basically became famous for being anti-hippie, pro-Vietnam... didnt Reagan help get him out of jail or something because of this?

By semillama on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 02:41 pm:

    yes, yes he was.

By patrick on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 03:17 pm:

media wars and bullshit. check this out
    http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-daughter6dec06,1,6320531.story

In short, this woman goes to Iraq in some sort or protest to find her daughter, who is in the Army.

While I think the woman is an idiot, whats notable in this story is not her, but the Iraqi police she talks with and their take on what has happened to the country.

"But you were liberated from a dictator," said (American mother) Benjamin"

Replied another (Iraqi) officer, Mohanan Majeed Taha: "We never asked anyone to liberate us. What right did the Americans have to liberate us?"

Also, Id like to ask trace if he's going to take Bush to task as much he did Clinton on the 'readiness' issue.
    http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-na-troops6dec06,1,3370336.story

Seems the Army is about to put 4 whole divisions in state of non-readiness for 6 months or longer, when the Republicans made such a fucking stink about Clinton reducing the readiness of two much smaller divisions for only 4 months.

sorry, that was me, NOT eri.

By Rowlfe on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 - 10:38 pm:

I know for a fact of a number of those names that have since changed their minds... publicly.. when was this list compiled spunk?

    i guess
no WMDs = "what? me? support?"

    PS

dont trumpet jackie mason. he might be Krusty the Clowns dad, but he wrote this:

    http://www.thejewishpress.com/news_article.asp?article=2037

"removal" - hmmm... is he inferring genocide? i actually think he is, just like many before him...

and Reggie White? geez! Why dont you just add john Rockers name to the list why dontcha! come on spunk, you cant just throw any old name on there to make it look bigger! their support might be true, but it kinda cuts into whatever point you're trying to make when you advertise support from racists.

By Rowlfe on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 - 10:42 pm:

also spunk, careful who you trust on just cutting/pasting a list...

remember the flap before the war where the pro-war folk were trying to trumpet some things Speilberg said as pro-war, when he wasnt?

By spunky on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 - 12:11 am:

I was never pro war, you ding bat.

    That's just sick.

By Rowlfe on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 - 12:27 am:

in the context of what we're talking about, 'pro-war" is "pro Iraq war", not "pro war in general"

pro Iraq war - you denying this?

yeah, he has Merle Haggard on that list and he's come out against.

plus, Bob Backlund??? If that's not reaching, I don't know what is.

"yeah, he has Merle Haggard on that list and he's come out against"

John Popper has been back and forth, making several statements both for and against... isnt he actually a friend of the Bush family?

its funny to see Nolan Ryan on the list. wasnt Bush his boss for a while?

I notice spunk also doubled up on a couple names on that list...

I want to see some of the quotes from these people where Boycott-Hollywood.net (where spunk copied and pasted this from btw) assumed they were against.. while I'm not going to doubt for a second on Charlie Daniels and Millers' stand, in cases, like Mel Gibson, his quotes that i've seen about Iraq have simply been about how Saddam is evil, and that something must be done. That doesnt necessarily mean war support, does it? I mean, this is teh guy who's funding Moore's next movie, last time I checked... and he's devout catholic, and we know where the Pope stood on this...

bah, both for and against war, I hate how some of these activist groups take vague or incomplete statements completely out of context for their purpose.

The one that irks me most is how gun rights activists use Gandhi quotes to try and prove Gandhi was for private ownership of guns... even the libertarian party site trumpets these quotes.
