By moonit on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - 01:09 am:

I think my eye exploded. I want candy.

By semilllama on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - 02:06 pm:

The other night I had salty caramel and peanut butter chip ice cream. yum.

By platypus on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - 08:16 pm:

I want candy too. Is it time for a winter candy exchange?

By agatha on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 - 12:39 pm:

    YES.

By droopy on Thursday, October 18, 2007 - 02:50 am:

i met a little girl in arkansas
    her name it was mirandy
i wanter her love, so i asked her pa
he said: tell her lies and feed her candy
tell her lies and feed her candy

By sarah on Thursday, October 18, 2007 - 10:23 pm:

    hmm

having a candy exchange 2x a year - once around easter time and once around halloween time - it makes sense.

By kazu on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 12:13 am:

Sem and I can play this year.

By Antigone on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 03:49 am:

    As can we!

By sarah on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 12:20 pm:

i was totally going to offer to organize the next exchange, but that probably would not be a good idea at this juncture.

By agatha on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 12:31 pm:

No, but you should definitely be sent candy ASAP.

By platypus on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 02:16 pm:

Yeah, I vote that we get the ball rolling pretty soon so that sarah will receive candy at a critically needed juncture.

By Der beobachter on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 07:07 pm:

versuchen sie einen getrankumtausch tausch interessanter

By moonit on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 11:18 pm:

    YAY. I fucking love candy.

By Antigone on Friday, October 19, 2007 - 11:33 pm:

Well, I don't have any of your goddamn addresses, so pony the fuck up.

By platypus on Saturday, October 20, 2007 - 04:17 am:

Are you volunteering to organize? Be our central candy hub, as it were?

By Antigone on Saturday, October 20, 2007 - 12:23 pm:

Heck no! I just thought I needed addresses to participate. How
    does it work?

By platypus on Saturday, October 20, 2007 - 10:47 pm:

Well, generally someone volunteers to organize, and everyone mails candy to him or her. And then the organizer splits the candy shipments up and sends every participant a box back, with a little bit of everything.

Heather's done it once and I've done it once, thus far. I suppose I could do it again, but I am no longer optimally situated for candy exchange coordination, since the post office here is glacially slow and it loses things.

By Dr Pepper on Saturday, October 20, 2007 - 11:06 pm:

well it is time for halloween treat.

By Antigone on Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 01:29 am:

    OK, what the hey?

Send all of your stuff to me. e-mail me with your snail mail hoo ha.

By heather on Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 03:35 am:

also people can include the money for the shipping back

By platypus on Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 03:07 pm:

Alright, well we should compile a list of who is participating so that people know how much candy to send.

By agatha on Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 06:32 pm:

I'm in. Also, we should send more money this year, because Platy got stiffed last year with the overseas shipping costs.

By platypus on Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 11:22 pm:

Not too badly, though. I mean, a couple of people sent enough to cover their own shipping, and some generous people sent more, so it worked out pretty well. I would say that $5-10 is probably safe. Also, the overseas participants are always happy to order things from Amazon/etc for you to compensate for their shipping.

By agatha on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 01:14 am:

Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like the overseas people were to blame or anything. I'm just saying that we all underestimated the cost of shipping everywhere in general. The foreign and Canadian candy made it all worthwhile, for shizzle.

By platypus on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 01:39 am:

Yeah, shipping is definitely getting pricey, unless you can fit stuff into a flat rate envelope. And it is a valid concern, because if everyone sent not quite enough money, poor Antigone would get the shaft.

So I will commit to officially participating. Who else is in?

By kazu on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 11:35 am:

Sem and I will do it. There is a restaurant
here that makes homemade candy. Maybe we will
    send some of that.

By sarah on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 01:05 pm:

i'm in. i better get my candy today though.

we're going to need Tig's mailing address.

By platypus on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 02:37 pm:

I just emailed him with my address, and I suggested that he get a head count of people participating and then mass mail us his address, which is what we've done in the past.

    It sounds like we have:

    Sarah
    Agatha
    Me
    Sem
    Kazu
    Antigone (with extra for Marci?)
    Moonit

Heather? Wisper? Mark? Last time we sent extra candy to Mark because Hal wussied out.

By moonit on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 05:53 pm:

Sweet. Fucking overseas people and their lack of ability to send american cash.

By platypus on Monday, October 22, 2007 - 07:57 pm:

Yeah, really, you people have a problem with real money or something?

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 02:23 am:

Send me local cash, if you like, or no cash at all. I dig foreign coinage.

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 02:24 am:

My e-mail link is above, on the 10/19 post.

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 02:26 am:

I'll reply to your e-mail with my snail mail address. If I don't reply in a day, post here. (My spam filter is pretty aggressive.)

Put "SORABJI CANDY" in the subject line.

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 02:29 am:

And, if I haven't replied to you, your e-mail probably dun got et.

    (Just replied to you, platypus)

By heather on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 02:32 am:

    okay, i be in

By platypus on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 02:36 am:

    Got it, Antigone.

    Sounds like candy for...seven?

Oooh, has anyone heard from Karla? She's such a candy badass.

By Dr Pepper on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 03:32 am:

I sense Moonit have some issue with us about Money or fund.

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 03:36 am:

I'd better goddamn well get some Lithuanian blood candy from V, that's all I gotta say.

By Dr Pepper on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 11:23 am:

    Yike!

By semillama on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 01:18 pm:

V'll probably just send you booze.

By moonit on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 03:26 pm:

You will mock my foreign coinage, they recently changed it to these pissant light coins. Plus years ago we lost the 1 and 2 cent pieces, this time round we lost the 5c. So now our denominations are 10, 20, 50 $1 & $2 coinages, plus $5, $10, $20 $50 and $100 notes. But they are a lot more colourful than yours.

By platypus on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 09:32 pm:

Plus, don't you have exotic creatures like kiwis on your money? That's pretty neat. Our coins just have dead people and buildings.

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 11:05 pm:

I mock no coinage. It's all uber cool.

Got any coinage from Papua New Guinea?

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 11:08 pm:

Is NZ money made of plastic yet? If so I'd definitely want one of those.

By heather on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 12:09 am:

our money is becoming good for stuffing pillows so any other currency is great

By moonit on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 03:33 am:

Yes it is made of some random plastic like material. And we have famous nz'ers and birds and stuff. And I may have some PNG stuff because my uncle lives there. I know we have some Japanese coins somewhere too.

By Dr Pepper on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 03:55 am:

It is the same as Canadian Currency, They have a new design tho. but I am not intersting.Moonit, I know alot of foreign country always bragging about new design and stuff, Did you ever heard of new design on Canadian cigarette? shocking one is " smoking can cause penis being impotent". and other different warning.

By semillama on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 02:34 pm:

The English Language: Fun While It Lasted.

By wisper on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 03:36 pm:

    that was awesome.

By moonit on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 03:54 pm:

I can't believe its not a second language.

It's the same make as Canadian, in fact I think they print it or do the coins or something, but the design is all kiwi.

Our ciggies come with warnings like : Smoking while pregant will harm your baby and so on.

By droopy on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 10:02 pm:

don't be too hard on dr. pepper. it must be difficult translating every post from chupacabra to english.

a couple of days ago i found a bag with a couple of loonies' worth of canadian quarters in it. it was in an old cabinet...it must've been left over from a trip...presumably to a candadian arcade.

i haven't been to canada in years.

By Dr Pepper on Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 02:55 am:

droppy, I do not speak chupacbrasee language, ok?

By heather on Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 03:05 am:

you know its true name! this proves it!

By sarah on Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 05:48 pm:

why do you encourage this nonsense?

i'm almost more annoyed by all y'all getting suckered into interaction with make believe characters than by the make believe characters themselves.

i beg you. please ignore them.

By heather on Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 06:05 pm:

but what if i am make believe?

i enjoy a chupacbrasee and the make believe get lonely too! just ask mr. rogers.

i am losing it. also, feeling lonely.
    hi sarah.

By droopy on Thursday, October 25, 2007 - 08:10 pm:

i'm with heather. i need the make believe. live with it.

By Dr Pepper on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 02:33 am:

Sarah, Heather and Droopy accusing me being a chupacabra......They are giving me a hard times..... I feel hurted by these ppl,

By heather on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 03:51 am:

    NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

By platypus on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 03:01 pm:

Do we have a final list of candy participants and a deadline? I am planning on getting candy today so it would be good to have a confirmed roll call, yeah? I don't want to get the wrong amount.

By Antigone on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 03:32 pm:

The final tally is eight. All have sent their address, so fire away! Sending e-mail now.

By platypus on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 08:05 pm:

And I'm off! The lady at the post office said it should be there by Monday, which seems unlikely to me, but I will assume early next week.

People who have strong feelings about dark vrs light chocolate and peanut butter should make these feelings known, as they will be relevant to the distribution of my candy.

Personally, I prefer inky dark chocolate. And my stance on peanut butter is neutral.

By heather on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 09:20 pm:

i don't like dark or peanut butter but i can always find someone happy to help

By Dr Pepper on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 12:16 am:

Heather ,if you are a make believe? then, it is not good enough!!!

By moonit on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 12:43 am:

I'm not a big fan of dark either but I know you are Platy. I'm going for something a bit different this time - the only bugger is you miss out on packaging of most things which is the best part!

By agatha on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 12:57 am:

I love dark. I love all chocolate. I love peanut butter, as well.

By platypus on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 01:20 am:

Thank God, Agatha! I was getting worried about all these milk loving philistines. I just want more of your nutty dried fruit dark chocolate bark stuff. It was amazing.

By Antigone on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 11:27 am:

    I once ate baker's chocolate.

    I liked it.

By jack on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 02:02 pm:

By jack on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 03:39 pm:

    hi jack : - )

By platypus on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 03:55 pm:

Lindt supposedly makes this chocolate that's almost 100% pure cacao. I'd really like to try some if I can ever find it.

By kazu on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 05:11 pm:

A woman with whom I used to work gave me some
90% to taste once. It was bitter, but pretty
    good.

    DARK CHOCOLATE RULZ OK!

By moonit on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 06:01 pm:

Andrew bought home some ridiculous 98% from Japan. VILE! Even he couldnt eat it. It was like swallowing cocoa powder.

By sarah on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 07:49 pm:

i love dark chocolate. 80% is a fine number.

    i love peanut butter.

milk chocolate is okay, it will do. it's best enjoyed when combined with something else, another texture.

By Antigone on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 11:33 am:

    Had the 100% Lindt.

    Made me wet.

By platypus on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 02:15 pm:

Woah. You should totally send some if they have it where you are, because it's nowhere to found here.

By Dr Pepper on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 04:42 pm:

Platypus, try it somewhere in South America, that is where we got it from.....(cocoa bean) for ,cocaine, coffee ,chocolate ,and so on....

By droopy on Monday, October 29, 2007 - 04:21 pm:

porter wagoner died today (or maybe yesterday, i don't know) at 80.

who the holy fuck is that?

he sang the song that i quoted way back on october 18th on this thead: "tell her lies and feed her candy."

i always assumed he'd died years ago.

By agatha on Monday, October 29, 2007 - 05:17 pm:

I liked that quote. RIP, mister Wagoner.

Attn: candy participants. Does anyone have any allergies I should be aware of? I forgot to ask this last time around, so hopefully nobody had an attack from anything I sent.

By V on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 12:13 am:

By semillama on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 11:35 am:

    Does anyone hate fudge?

By agatha on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 11:38 am:

No. Although the white fudge kinda creeps me out, but these candy exchanges are all about expanding candy horizons for me.

By Dr Pepper on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 12:10 pm:

White fudge is like eating sugar and flour....ugggh!!!!!!!!!!11

By heather on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 01:22 pm:

    mm... sugar and flour

By platypus on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 01:25 pm:

Really sweet fudge kind of upsets me, but I like the concept of fudge, so I usually eat it anyway.

By Antigone on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 01:55 pm:

    Got package from platypus.

Will open all packages at once, unless anyone requests otherwise.

By platypus on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 03:16 pm:

Yay, I'm glad to hear it arrived, hopefully safely.

By moonit on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 05:27 pm:

I just bought the last of my candy this morning. It's not as exciting as I thought. oh well. Candy is candy. Lollies are lollies. Chocolate mmmmmm

By sarah on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 06:19 pm:

i too just bought the last of my candy today, and i'm about to package it up, and i will take it to the post office first thing tomorrow morning.

kinda disappointing though, i was hoping to find more of that chocolate and chili candy but i went to 3 places and nobody had it.

    i love fudge.

By platypus on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 07:19 pm:

Darn, the chocolate and chili stuff looked pretty awesome last time.

Anyone else have a rude candy clerk experience, or was it just me?

By kazu on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 07:39 pm:

    fudge is nasty. blech.

By agatha on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 01:08 am:

I have not bought candy, because I have spent every waking moment of the last week pimping a book cart. Don't ask. I'll take care of the candy sometime before next Monday.

By wisper on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 07:22 pm:

oh dearest kazu, i thought i was nearly the only one on earth who didn't like fudge

    :D

By moonit on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 02:26 am:

I like it if its more sugary then smooth. Is that weird?

By Dr Pepper on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 12:50 pm:

    Yike!

By Nate on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 01:29 pm:

    Yike!

By heather on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 03:58 pm:

    more smooth

By blindswine on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 06:55 pm:

    oh dearest wisper,

    i never knew you weren't a fudgepacker.

By agatha on Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 10:34 pm:

    Yike!

I'm glad you're back, Swine, but are you going to make us sad and leave again? Portland rules, we are hoping to move there ourselves someday.

By blindswine on Friday, November 2, 2007 - 01:16 am:

    i never really left.

i'll see you in person when i get out west.

By Dr Pepper on Friday, November 2, 2007 - 01:21 am:

My work really sucks when dow jones sucks!

By semillama on Friday, November 2, 2007 - 12:44 pm:

All those despondent stockbrokers wanting a comforting knob slobber, eh?

By kazu on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 12:25 pm:

We have procured the candy for the exchange
and will be sending it very soon.

By Antigone on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 02:43 pm:

    Got sarah's package.

By agatha on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 03:08 pm:

    I'm shopping today! Wheee!

By moonit on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 06:50 pm:

I have my candy ready to go but I needed one more thing for feet which I now have, so I will box it up tonight and express mail it :)

By Antigone on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 08:24 pm:

No rushie rushie. Only two packages so far.

By heather on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 08:32 pm:

    there is a baby!

By Karla on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 08:59 pm:

Woo-hoo! What can you tell us? Are Mom & daughter OK?

By Nate on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 09:10 pm:

    they are doing great.

and "all babies are ugly" nate has to say she is one beautiful little jewel.

By moonit on Monday, November 5, 2007 - 11:32 pm:

Yes I'm with Nate. She is gorgeous!

By heather on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 04:06 am:

    me three!

    tasty as pie

By agatha on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 12:55 pm:

Love the name Charlotte, and I have a really good friend named Johanna. Also: I bought candy. Now I just need to finish a couple of things and stick it in a box.

By semillama on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 01:38 pm:

We have Ohiolicious candy to send.

Also, Sarah's baby came out looking pretty good. Would like to hear the particulars of the birth, though!

You can tell senor wrote the email, since it mentions the Steelers game but not anything like weight, length, number of fingers, etc.

By platypus on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 02:58 pm:

Yeah, I noticed that. Although I think a baby that cute probably has a full complement of fingers and toes.
