Nothingness What is your definition of Heaven?: Nothingness
By A on Monday, January 19, 1998 - 12:02 am:
Heaven for me is nothingness. Not a frightening abyss of darkness or a void, but in that there will be nothing. Like that stage right before you wake up from fainting. That deep sleep. No pain, no fear, no joy, no climate, no clutter, no objects, no noise, no dreams, no struggle, no emotion, no one else, not even yourself. This heaven would be, hopefully, after a life full of all these things.

I dunno A -- sounds pretty damn boring to me. The absence of pain is fine/but the absence of joy is hard for me to reconcile with the concept of 'heaven'.

By A on Monday, January 19, 1998 - 12:58 am:
But you won't feel bored in my heaven because there is no feeling.

By Slacker on Monday, January 19, 1998 - 01:02 am:
if there's no feeling in your heaven i guess i won't be needing my doobage.i suppose it also won't matter if i poke you in the head.

By A on Monday, January 19, 1998 - 01:58 am:
Nope. Cause you won't be in my heaven. Nobody will. (n.b. I'm still alive here guys).

By Slacker on Monday, January 19, 1998 - 02:55 pm:
heaven is hell, where hell is,and hell is here on earth.

Hell is figuring out where to hide that pound of Ganja that landed in your lap last friday. On the other hand...Uh...Damn, there goes my short term memory.

i can't remember the last time smokin ganj affected my memory.
    now what was i .....

Nothingness...kinda like a nap without dreams, eh? Hm. Not too pleasant. That's what this atheist thinks death is like, though (Nothingness, that is.)

Using a more secular definition of Heaven...I'd have to agree with that 'heaven is hell, where hell is,and hell is here on earth.' thing Slacker said. Heaven is what you want most dearly in life. it's only that way for a short while...then Heaven becomes Hell. It's doomed to, in any way. The best heaven would be A's nothingness. Because then you can't change it but won't want to.

Given a choice, i think i'll avoid BOTH Heaven and Hell and just continue to live.

    It could work.

Heaven is a place where pain cannot be felt. Heaven is the reason why we are here on earth though god gives us the freedom to choose, to live on his will or to defy him, if you live on his will you will go to heaven, if not you will go to the burning hell. We will live here on earth for couple of years, most of the time less than 60 years while the rest will be in heaven or hell. Imagine living in hell for a thousand years, where pain and suffering are to be felt, make a good choice, live on god's will and live forever in heaven.

Heaven is where your arteries just won't clog. Mmm mmm, steak 'n' bacon!

"Heaven, Heaven is a place / a place where
    nothing, nothing ever happens"

    -the Talking Heads

That pretty much describes it. Things which
happen tend to result in more anxiety, pain,
and other unheavenly qualities than things
    which don't happen.

Much like the phenomenon "When people stop talking they acctually start to think. That is why humans talk so much."
