this means that instead of running the programming that i actually watch them for (science, nature, history) they drag out the same stuff like music shows i've either gotten sick of or hated in the first place or these "seminars" with some expert that are really little more than infomercials to sell a book or something. two of the shows they run are these irish singing groups. one is called "celtic thunder" - an all- male band that plays "folk, celtic, adult contemporary, world music, soft rock, broadway, classical crossover". the second band is called "celtic woman". it's basically the same as the first but with all women. they play their bland music and every so often the blandly enthusiastic pbs staff will cut in to beg for money. my dream is to have the same thing, but this time with the pogues. the real comedy will come when they do the interview. i haven't worked it all out yet, but i know that at some point shane macgowan (the one before the bastards put teeth back in his mouth) will vomit on somebody from pbs. what is your dream snl skit? |
