By heather on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 - 07:04 am:

i just couldn't resist the word forviled

that and the distraction from wanting to throw up because i have
    an interview in 6 hours

The The :: True Happiness This Way Lies :: [Dusk]

And have you ever wanted something so badly
that it possessed your body & your soul
through the night & through the day
    until you finally get it!
And then you realise that it wasn't what you wanted after all.
And then those selfsame sickly little thoughts
now go & attach themselves to something....
    ....or somebody....new!
And the whole goddamn thing starts all over again.
Well, I've been crushing the symptoms but I can't locate the
    cause.
Could God really be so cruel?
To give us feelings that could never be fulfilled. Baby!
I've got my sights set on you. I've got my sight set on you
And someday, someday, someday, you'll come my way.
But when you put your arms around me
I'll be looking over your shoulder for something new
'cause I ain't ever found peace upon the breast of a girl
I ain't ever found peace with the religion of the world
I ain't ever found peace at the bottom of a glass
sometimes it seems the more I ask for the less I receive
sometimes it seems the more I ask for the less I receive
The only true freedom is freedom from the heart's desires
& the only true happiness....this way lies.

By Nate on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 - 10:55 am:

    good luck heather.

don't let having an interview to go to make you forget you are the shit.

ohhhhh tater tots are like thick mini hash browns.

By e. on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 01:44 am:

I love tater tots. they deep fry them at the vortex

By TBone on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 12:50 pm:

I got a fryer last night. Hooray for fried foods!

By Czarina on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 04:12 pm:

    Fry on!

By wisper on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 09:15 pm:

I would fear for my sanity and health if i got a deep fryer. I would be frying experimental things late into the night.

    Like grapes. And twinkies.
Things man was never meant to fry.

By Dougie on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 10:08 pm:

I hear you, wisper. Just curious, anybody ever tried to deep fry a turkey? I was tempted to buy a turkey fryer last weekend at BJ's, but decided against it -- too many gallons of Mazola to buy, plus probably not a good idea with a rambunctious dog running around outside. Plus, you wouldn't get that awesome house-filling smell of a turkey cooking if you cooked it outside in oil.

By dave. on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 10:38 pm:

deep-fried turkey is the shit but those things are darwinian angels of death.

By jack on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 10:40 pm:

    turducken, yo.

clearly, you've got to do the turducken, dougie.

wash it down with a cold fresh tequiza! or two!

By Dougie on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 10:55 pm:

I can't get my wife to eat duck. Nor lamb. Plus she doesn't want to try a goose for Christmas dinner. Maybe a turchicken or a chirckey is in order. Of course, washed down with plenty of tequiza!

By jack on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 11:39 pm:

just don't tell her about the duck.
treat it as your personal secret preparation ritual, and she'll love your "turchicken."

pick up that fryer this weekend. and maybe a bag of limes. cheers!

By kazu on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 11:43 pm:

I love duck. I'd sooner eat duck than chicken. thems some dirty animals.

i'm in a computer lab on campus because I can't work at home.

I wish i'd brought some pajama pants. I want to take these off.

By jack on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 01:27 am:

    is it hot in therre?

By kazu on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 01:41 am:

not really. I just want to be more comfy.

my paper is still not getting written. I have over 4000 words, you'd think I could just tie the whole thing up.

By jack on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 01:48 am:

    THIS SITE SUXX.

tie it up. move onnn. keep on all your clothes.

By jack on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 01:50 am:

don't make me move on to linking to spider's post about jones' law of shelf space.

get it on and get it over with.

By agatha on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 02:17 am:

I'm so relating, Kazu. I'm fucked, truly. I have too much homework and too little time to complete it, so I am making a complicated food item for our "holiday potluck" tomorrow at work. I will never learn.

By kazu on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 02:21 am:

I could be finished this paper in two hours. I have close to 18 pages written. It's just not happening. Argh.

By e. on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 02:23 am:

Yes, I've been refreshing, but at least I'm not being distracted by old threads, like usual.

By Sye on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 12:24 pm:

"I would fear for my sanity and health if i got a deep fryer. I would be frying experimental things late into the night.

    Like grapes. And twinkies.
Things man was never meant to fry."

Our state fair fries up twinkies, corn dogs, oreos, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. They're quite good, actually.

By TBone on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 12:37 pm:

My first thought when I read "I've been refreshing" was a commercial with happy people and ice-cold water droplets flying in the air in slow motion.

    Kazu Refreshes!

I hate that point in a paper. The final hump.

The temptation to fry strange things is overpowering. Of course I'm going to try a twinkie.

I made Disgruntled Tofu Egg Rolls last night.

    Ingredients:
    1 package egg roll wrappers
    1 small cabbage, finely chopped
1 bunch green onions, finely chopped
    1 package extra-firm tofu, crumbled
Soy Sauce (organic shoyu is strongly preferred)

    Directions:
Start your day by getting yelled at by your boss. Don't eat anything all day.

In a skillet, fry the tofu, cabbage, and green onions in a little bit of oil until the cabbage is floppy and the mixture isn't too wet. Spoon a small amount of the mixture onto a wrapper and roll it according the the directions on the package. Do this immediately, so as to burn your hands.

    Drop some on the floor.

For your first batch, forget to moisten the end of the wrapper so that they will blow open upon hitting the hot oil.

Fry the rolls a few at a time for about 5 minutes at 375 F. This will burn them slightly. Fry future batches for 3 minutes.

Eat immediately, so as to burn your mouth. They will be very hot.

By TBone on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 12:38 pm:

    Oreos! Interesting.

By kazu on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 01:25 pm:

Tbone, you be so cute sometimes

By kazu on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 01:31 pm:

This paper writing experience has been like no other. It's done...still a little tweaking, but it will be turned in soon. But it was just excruciating, I mean I just couldn't make it happen...it was like some kind of internal resistance mechanism.

On a good note, I got the annotated bibliography I wrote for my southern lit class and got an A with all kinds of great comments from my professor. That paper was hard, but it all came out in the end like it was supposed to. I think that has to do with the fact that it is somewhat related to my interests. I'm really getting to the point where I no longer care to waste my time on things that are unrelated. Next semester I have one more class with a professor I want on my committee and the course itself looks like it will be useful.

I got my brows and lip waxed. I be pretty now.

By patrick on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 03:40 pm:

as far as filthy animals goes....swine and chicken are up there. i dont understand how one can go for a turkey or chicken but not a duck or goose, at least to try. i like goose a little better than duck, i think, but both are quite tasty.

my lady friend has about a half dozen pint sized containers of goose fat from thanksgiving. that shit makes up a bitchin gravy or stock.

By Gee on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 03:53 pm:

    lady friend?

By Nate on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 04:06 pm:

    6 pints of goose fat?

goddamnit man, that could have come in handy.

By patrick on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 04:18 pm:

    heh

yes gee. i've been physically separated since july. i see people.

i dunno man. with fartyduck and goosefat, something would have gone a foul nate.

By Nate on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 06:49 pm:

    hmm. or fowl.

By patrick on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 06:59 pm:

dammit thats what i meant to type.

By Nate on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 07:31 pm:

    i figured.

still. i think we could have gotten away with a ton more.

By BIGKev on Thursday, December 16, 2004 - 09:10 pm:

about that deep fryer... and the staying up late shit...

we i was just a wee lad and worked at Mcdonalds, we used to collect flies from the drive through windows and chuck them in the fryer. And we used to melt straws and plastic cutlery too..

but its OK. we only ever used the filet'o'fish deep fryer, cause no-one at work ordered those stupid things..

oh and pickels, they turn white..

By Gee on Friday, December 17, 2004 - 10:01 am:

wow, since july? time flys fast.

    is she nice?

By jack on Friday, December 17, 2004 - 10:44 am:

By patrick on Friday, December 17, 2004 - 01:41 pm:

no gee, she's mean as a hornet and a demon in the sack.

By semillama on Friday, December 17, 2004 - 03:49 pm:

    deep-fried PIZZA???

By patrick on Friday, December 17, 2004 - 03:53 pm:

deep fried dough isnt an unusual concept at all. throw in some pepperoni or peppers....shit why not.

By Gee on Friday, December 17, 2004 - 05:41 pm:

as long as she's good with the sexin', that's all that matters.

By agatha on Saturday, December 18, 2004 - 12:03 am:

    No, it's not.

By Gee on Saturday, December 18, 2004 - 07:37 pm:

    it's not?

By agatha on Sunday, December 19, 2004 - 03:00 pm:

    Nope.

By Gee on Sunday, December 19, 2004 - 11:58 pm:

    oh.

    okay.

By Spider on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 12:32 am:

Tater tots are called gems in my corner of Montana.

I'm back in Pennsylvania for Christmas break. It's weird, yo.

By Spider on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 12:32 am:

By wisper on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 02:10 am:
