i have a shitload of mint growing on my back porch.
    i use it in the odd tea, cocktail or hot chocolate;
but that hardly makes a dent. anybody have any
    suggestions?

By Antigone on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 - 02:41 am:

Crush up and snort that shit.

Well, the winter is coming :-(

Mint jelly. Goes great with lamb. Probably won't make much of a dent either, but something to try.

    LOL!!! Tiggy

By droopy on Thursday, November 8, 2012 - 02:56 am:

i thought tiggy might have some kind of
    pharmaceutical advice.

my mother used to do this thing where she'd take a
slice of roasted red pepper, place an anchovy on it
and then a leaf of fresh mint, then wrap it up and
secure it with a toothpick. it was delicious.
    that's what i'm talkin' about.

By Antigone on Thursday, November 8, 2012 - 12:50 pm:

That does sound delicious. That's my kind of appetizer.

By Antigone on Thursday, November 8, 2012 - 12:54 pm:

And I wasn't specifically giving nutritional advice, but damned if
mint isn't high in magnesium. :)

By droopy on Thursday, November 8, 2012 - 10:44 pm:

bought a gallon of vodka. i will make a medicinal
    infusion.

By blindswine on Friday, November 9, 2012 - 02:26 am:

    easy on that vodka, doctor.

up here they have this habanero infusion i'm quite fond of called
    "hot monkey".

i recommend mixing it with some real ginger ale and putting it
    on ice.

    keep rolling.

You have to keep that mint in check. I tried growing some in a large pot. It went crazy. Eventually I just ripped it out and tossed it into the woods. Talk about invasive plants.

By droopy on Sunday, November 11, 2012 - 02:49 pm:

maybe it was all that mint, but i had a weird
dream last night. it all took place in my bedroom,
or a bedroom, since it didn't look quite like mine
but was in the dream. a large spider had built a
sort of lattice on the wall and spun her web in
it. i wasn't scared or disgusted or anything, just
fascinated. as the dream progressed, the room
started to fill up with bugs - flying, crawling,
hopping. the last image i remember was of big,
pink worm - like a wriggling severed finger -
giving birth to a litter of little pink wriggling
    blobs.

yes, watcher, my mint wants to take over the
world. it's in a pot, but it seems to be trying to
make its way to the dirt where it will battle the
invasive doll's daisy for control of my tiny back
    yard.

Well, I had this odd dream, It been 28 years since I dropped out of high school, and suddenly I find myself forced to drop back in, I mean, come on! I am 40 something years old, and already earned my G.E.D. diploma, This kind of bad feeling for me, it occured to me several times over the last couple of years.

By sarah on Monday, November 12, 2012 - 11:44 pm:

chop it up (or not) and put it in any leafy green
    salad.

chop it up (or not) and put it in any sandwich.

chop it up and stir it into your chocolate or
    vanilla cookie dough before baking.

By moonit on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 02:03 pm:

put some in with boiling potatoes. mmmmm

By droopy on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 03:56 pm:

yesterday i put some mint in a pork sandwich. this
afternoon i mixed it with peanut butter. both were
ok. i always have apple slices with a peanut butter
sandwich, and it occurred to me: apple butter with
mint. might go well with either of the
aforementioned sandwiches. this might be my next
    project.

I recently heard that mint repells mice. For some reason they can't stand it.
