My wife's poor cat has to go to a Vetrinary Internal Medicine Specialist for an Ultra-Sound.

The poor cat has one kidney two small and one kidney to large.

Unfortunately it's going to cost close to four hundred bucks!!! Ouch!!!

It would only cost more if she was human.

I understand. Grandma's cat had no where to go so we took him in (we now have 3 cats 2 were originally Grandma's). Grandma spoiled him rotten with expensive foods and people food. We just give our cats dry food. We weened him off of the expensive stuff and the next thing you know he is severely anemic. $30 a day in bloodwork and his vet wants to do a feline HIV test that is $60. On top of that there are vitamin supplements and energy supplements and lots of raw liver (gross). He is just starting to get better, but he is one expensive old man!!!! 14 years old and still thinks he is the king of the castle :)

Good luck with your cat. Hope all ends up well.

yeah, okay, mister "i'm going to kill the mice."

By The Watcher on Friday, December 28, 2001 - 04:20 pm:

I think dave would tell grandma it was time for her to take a one way trip too.

By dave. on Saturday, December 29, 2001 - 03:31 am:

my grandma is bitter and lonely and refuses to make an effort at socializing and doesn't care about eating regularly. bad practice for a diabetic. yeah. it's time to go.

By Czarina on Saturday, December 29, 2001 - 08:44 am:

They have "pet medical insurance".I don't personally have it.[I have way too many pets,so it wouldn't be cost effective for me]

But a nurse I work with was telling me about it awhile back.It sounds like a pretty good deal.

I think you have to pay the vet,but the insurance company reimburses you.I'm not sure of the %,but I think it was maybe like 60% to 80%.She said it had more than payed for itself.

I guess this won't help you this time, but maybe kittles for thought for next time.

I think you can find it on the internet.

And I'm gonna be just like Dave's grandma.Except I'm also gonna scare the neighborhood kids.

By eri on Saturday, December 29, 2001 - 07:26 pm:

You can't forget to call the long distance company and tell them they charge too much and you don't get any free deals like your neighbors. Of course, you might want to keep your long distance bill around $0.15 per month for a while just to see if they will make you any offers.

I intend to be a bitchy old lady. Maybe pop my dentures out at my grandkids and growl to gross them out.

    1. I'm already looking at the veterinary health insurance plans.

    2. I'm already grumpy, grouchy, and unpleasant to be with. (To many of lifes misfortunes at the moment.) I cann't wait until I'm old and have an excuse.

By J on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 - 10:58 am:

Why wait till your old? I've been a cranky bitch forever, at least it seems,I want to bitch now while I can still remember what I'm biching about.

By Czarina on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 - 11:32 am:

    Thats a poignant statement.

By The Watcher on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 - 03:58 pm:

Correction : It cost over four hundred bucks!

I took the cat to the Vet.

And, the Vet took me to the Poorhouse!!!

Hopefully she won't have a urinary infection. Then I'd only have to take her back to her regular Vet a few times a year for a check up.

Otherwise, I don't even want to think about those bills. Let alone what the poor thing would have to go through.
