jello has made up the majority of my diet for the past several week. so i have been thinking a lot about jello.

so a question: if you had to be a flavor of jello, what would it be? would you put something in it, if so, what?

By Isolde on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 10:26 pm:

If I was a flavour of jello, I would first of all not be Jello, TM, since it has gelatin in it. I would be vegan jello.
    Lemon.

By Bell_jar on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 10:33 pm:

    nothing in you?

By Isolde on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 10:47 pm:

    Um, uh...must...resist...um...
    NO!

By agatha on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 11:19 pm:

jello doesn't have gelatin in it anymore, supposedly. they use some sort of seaweed derivative.

By Isolde on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 11:34 pm:

    "Jell-O Gelatin"
    "Jell-O Brand Gelatin Dessert"
In fact, the Jello menu lists Jello a "Gelatin."
    I rest my case.

By Tired on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 - 11:47 pm:

    holy

    jello?

    is that healthy?

I mean, some, yeah, but the majority of your diet? what if you end up all jiggly and people walk by and shake you and poke you to see how your semi-solid state reacts? eh? eh? hmm, I think I'm going to get a big bowl of jello now.

By Nuts and Bananas on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 12:03 am:

as stated elsewhere, cranberry is the only Jello that doesn't have an "artificial flavor" after the flavor...

cranberry with nuts and bananas might be o.k. but i'll bet it isn't on the diet...

By pez on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 12:53 am:

i'd want to be the sparkly jell-o...or jell-o 123 (remember that? you mixed it up and poured it into cups in the frige, and it had three layers? fuckin' cool!).

By Isolde on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 01:24 am:

    That's awesome.
I remember once me 8th grade science teacher made us geology cupcakes. So cool.

By moonit on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 02:32 am:

i'd be alcoholic jello. Jelly fuckit. its jelly!

dont eat alcoholic jelly when you've got the munchies.

    bad bad bad.

By Dougie on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 08:23 am:

I like orange jello mixed with cut up apples and walnuts served very cold. My ma makes it every Thanksgiving. Very refreshing after stuffing half a turkey with accoutrements down your throat.

By Isolde on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 10:34 am:

Oh...jello shots! That might be what I'd be. Thanks, moonit.

By pez on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 12:35 pm:

i wouldn't want to be aspic. have you ever tried it? it's like, apple jello with tomato juice and celery. my grandma is always finding some reason to make it.

By Bell_jar on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 12:45 pm:

apple jello? is there such a thing? i love apple muffins, so i might like apple jello. that doesn't make sense.

the reason why it makes up most of my diet is because it has no fat. it is basically just water. i have ulcer issues and don't need to aggrivate the ulcer gods. jello is good. if it were possible to send, i would send you all jello molds for christmas. but since it isn't you all get nothing. no jello for you!!

By patrick on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 01:45 pm:

i almost choked to death on that shit in a morrison's cafeteria as a kid. i think I was confused as to whether or not your should chew it or just swallow it.

    fuck jello

By J on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 01:54 pm:

One of the most putrid concoctions I ever ate,and I was forced to eat it in elementry school cafeteria was green jello with chopped up cabbage.I chucked it back up in front of everyone.I think rasberry jello would be good, with salt on it.

By Cat on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 03:55 pm:

My nephews and I have jello fights. They fight dirty and nasty. It makes me so proud.

Thanks for visiting our Web site. We appreciate your interest in our gelatin. Our gelatin is made from the hides of animals. The hides are treated with food-approved acids or bases (alkalis). This converts a substance in the hides called collagen into gelatin. The gelatin is then thoroughly purified and dried. Production of gelatin is under supervision of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The exact sources of the gelatin we use can't be determined, since hides are used from any animal raised for food production. During the manufacturing of gelatin, chemical changes take place so that the final product the composition and identity of the original material is completely eliminated. Because of this, gelatin isn't considered a meat by the United States Government.

drat. i've been bamboozled. i ate about fifteen cubes of jello at an art opening last month. it was rainbow-ified.

By pez on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 05:57 pm:

have you ever tried the frozen jello trick?

By heather on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 08:44 pm:

agatha, did they really say that?

"The exact sources of the gelatin we use can't be determined, since hides are used from any animal raised for food production. am i the only one completely grossed out? did they expect you to want to eat it after that statement?

By Isolde on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 09:21 pm:

It is pretty gross. Case in point.
I remember once a woman at work brought in lemon jello with chicken in it. UGH.

By agatha on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 11:37 pm:

i don't think they knew i was a vegetarian. they might have phrased it differently if they had known. yeah, it's not animal byproduct anymore once it's been put through chemical processes.(?)

By Isolde on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 12:51 am:

    Yeah, that's a little wierd.

By Tom on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 05:00 am:

why's that weird? it's all just chemicals, anyhow. I just ate tapioca. Can I be tapioca, instead of Jell-o?

yeah. "chemical process." molecules change shape, and a thing is a different thing. It's the way the world works, I'm afraid. you eat food (veggie or meat or jello), and eventually, after lots of chemical processes, you turn part of it into fat, and part of it into energy, and part of it into waste.

I betcha that lots of things you use and eat daily have, at one point, been part of an animal. It's REALLY just a carbon molecule. Chow down.

too tired to sorabjize ANY MORE.

and all our atoms were initially manufactured in stars.

By Isolde on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 11:50 am:

Yes, indeed. I'm a star. You could be a star too.

By patrick on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 01:38 pm:

you a scientologist tbone? oh wait, they think we come from aliens and we still have a "piece" of said aliens in our bodies, and their mission is to erradicate that, being the root of all evil.

    wait, who is the scientologist?

*insert perry mason theme and peering inquisitive eye*

By TBone on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 02:43 pm:

Nah, just full of odd information. Not necessarily correct information, but that makes it more fun.

On an unrelated note, Dirtyredcommie.com is back in operation (I think) and it turns out that there's a sister site, so-to-speak: capitalistpig.com

By Isolde on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 03:22 pm:

    Excellent. I'll check it out.

By Tom on Friday, October 27, 2000 - 04:46 am:

IIRC, not all our atoms were made in stars. Just the heavier ones that can only (most easily?) be made by huge fusion reactors like stars.

    blah.

By Colleen on Sunday, January 18, 2004 - 06:53 pm:

Yes, there used to be "apple jello" made by the Jello company, but they must have discontinued it years ago. I've been looking for it for a long time.

By Lisa The Strange on Thursday, June 3, 2004 - 07:22 pm:

Jello...is...ground up chemically treated animal. I had a nice bowl of green jello besides me, and one of my stupid friends mentioned its made of fat, and I just had to look it up, I will never look at jello the same again..I don't know if I should eat it, or bury it in my back yard...God damn noahs arc in a spoonful.

I will have none of this noahs arc flubber buisiness!
