damn.... i went through my tape collection recently to find many of my greats destroyed and MIA...so many great tunes...not to mention all the albums i bought and sold....fucking whore!

to name a few for nostalgic purposes, a sort of mourn for the missing...

-all my youth Brigade records, namely the first self titled album ,i had a 1st pressing copy. I still have one, it's a second pressing italian print, but it's not the same.

-Dead Kennedy's....the only cassette that made it is plastic surgery disasters...the rest of my vinyl is gone

-D.I. the Album What Good is Grief To A God

-7 seconds albums, i had all of them up until New Wind, and thats when the bitches went soft on me.

-some 7"s i miss... Nip Drivers, Avengers, Government Issue

-all my dischord stuff....Embrace, Shudder to Think, Minor Threat, Teen Idols and so on...

-my first second pressing "wheat" copy of the famed Flex Your Head compliation from Dischord

    -MDC self titled

    -Bad Religion, No Control....

    -Bad Brains, I against I

just a few off the top of my head, that i kick myself in the ass daily for not hanging on to....

you like the east coast hardcore, patrick? that's funny.

By patrick on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 - 12:03 pm:

yes, but i also like the west....Nip Drivers, Youth Brigade, the California band as well as the DC group , DI, DK...these are all California bands...

i liked a lot of that emo core shit too

but i guess, yeah, i predominantly liked east coast/nyc/dc stuff....

    What's emo core?

Whatever happened to Emo Phillips, that kind of childlike comedian? I always thought he was funny as hell.

By patrick on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 - 12:35 pm:

    emotional hardcore

green day, in their early days were considered "emo core"...sensitive, sappy, simple, wishy washy punk rock...

the sensitive, nice guy mentality manifesting itself into skinny punker boys...

emo core had a strong presence in the bay area in the early 90s, bands like Operation Ivy, Jawbreaker, Mr Ts Experience, Samiam and others

dude, youth brigade were from connecticut. give some credit to the poor state, for crying out loud! they don't have much, but they do have youth brigade, youth of today, side by side, up front, wide awake, and seven seconds!

By patrick on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 - 07:53 pm:

oh, well just about every band on dischord is associated with DC, my apologies.

i saw recently somewhere, on tv or something, a an interview with Ray "of Today" and his band krisna band Shelter.....ugh...he lost me with that little stint.....

jesus christ, it sounds like CT was spawning all the straight edge bands for the entire movement....it seems, anyway

what i recall being so fascinating with alot of the bands was their accessibility...a buddy of mine got into setting up shows and reselling 7"s at shows.....big proponent of the DIY idea...he booked many bands including Naked Aggression, Antioch Arrow, Universal Order of Armageddon off the top of my head.....what a thrill it was to be hanging out with your rock idols...he even had Universal Order of Armageddon play his living when his parents were out of town....how fucking cool was to see these people rocking out with family photos and potpourri pots behind them....stage diving off the couch....and he never got caught....he eventually fessed up but they didn't care, hell they were at woodstock, they thought it pretty cool. i had an exciting teenage existance at times

Dude.....I hate to be a "Bitch", but I just need to check your chin. I live with an emo kid, play in an emo band, and Green Day is NOT EMO! They never were EMO, they are and will forever be Pop Punk. Emo is FUGAZI, JAWBOX, SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE, TEXAS IS THE REASON, HUM....Strong melodies, sometimes two guitars, drop d tunings...as for wishy washy....you need to check that too.
