    What is implied in the following lines?


    Somebody told me
    That you had a boyfriend
    Who looked like a girlfriend
    That I had in February of last year
    It's not confidential
    And I've got potential

    The rest of the song and the minor chords would lead me to believe that whatever is going on is a bad thing. So...the narrator (a guy) dated the sister of some girl's ex-boyfriend? He dated a transsexual? If so, female to male, or male to female?

    I don't get it.

    Could be. This is one of those fluffy Franz Ferdinand-esque disco-type songs that are coming out of the UK nowadays, so I don't expect much depth. But that's the chorus of the song and it's repeated often, so I thought there has to be some tawdry implication going on that I'm not seeing.

    All it's saying (at least on the surface) is that the person being addressed is dating a boy who resembles a girl that the narrator dated. IT says nothing about the relative levels of feminity/masculinity involved (nor does it reveal the sex of either the narrator or the addressee).
